Bugis Junction: Super blessed to have a belated bdae lunch treat from my dear friend ❤❤❤ @platypuskitchen is not someplace i would usually be interested in but enjoyed myself there 😃 Unique one-of-a-kind creations! Disclaimer: not a fan of fusion-y cuisine.

Pros: Good service. Truffles & uni flavours in our dishes. Very seafood-y menu 😆 But also have meats/pasta/snacks. Enjoyed the food in general. Crustacean bowl was super comforting to eat! I mean it's covered in CHEESE after all.....
💦
Cons: Tries hard but fails to deliver, much to be improved upon. Homemade pasta more like egg noodles. Crustacean bowl too ex - rather they replace the lumpy frozen lobster w other stuffs & charge cheaper. Fries were crisp but low quality type.

Price: S$69.10

Had a lovely dinner @pastajsg as it's dog friendly (NOT dog cafe) & food is well executed! But i should stop eating cafe-style pasta's - it's my fav food & i keep getting disappointed coz i set too high a benchmark. 😂

Pros: Very good service 👏 Can feel the passion, thought & love of the owners' efforts in the cafe & food. Everything was nice (but kindda salty/sweet). Not a beef person but steak was so yummy. Favs for today: Striploin, tomato soup, creme brulee.
👀
Cons: Food took long time (read it's made from scratch that's why). Portion sizing a bit weird? Soup & creme brulee came in tiny cups not taller than a salt shaker. Very salty pesto pasta😝 Kaya toast was good but too sweet AND salty😨

Price: S$85.80 - 2pax, finished everything

Yet another salad? This time from @iceedgecafe as Lola's was closed. Never liked coming here if i can help it. Been here on/off for many years, something about the staffs (staffs makes the experience, no?) here that makes me uncomfortable. There's always an unhappy vibe.

Pros: Closes late. 1for1 lunch promo👍 Food & desserts good for cafe standard. Salad was tasty. Yummy durian lava cake/ice cream.

Cons: Salad very little. Lemongrass ginger tea tasted "off". Most of their ice creams are horrible, choose carefully (there are nice ones). Don't like the vibe of the place.

Price: S$19 - salad, tea

... for the 9th time, @lolascafesg 😅😅 I'm a reluctant fan. Never liked the place, but just so happens it closes late with alright, decent food & last-orders aren't at 9pm (unrealistic).

Salad is awesome value. The amount of smoked salmon is insane! Unlike most places that gives just a few thin squiggly strips.
Black sesame tart is nice too, very different 😊

Thanks to my dog, @sun_ray_cafe is hands-down my most frequented cafe (don't like having dinners at cafes). Food is great, lots of doggy friends especially weekends & noticeable improvements from last visit 😊 - especially the sharp/acidic dog pee stench is not as pronounced anymore. Previous review: 19Mar

Pros: Food is generally tasty (& my fav out of all dog cafe's)👍There is a no-dogs dining section too. Prompt service. I like their omelettes here! Home-made breads, tried the brioche it's yummy.

Cons: Stopped having their cake-display desserts as i always get a stale slice (only once i've had a fresh durian cake & that was awesome though)

The landscape of Tai Seng is rapidly changing. What used to be a barren industrial area is playing host to an ever growing dining scene. @carol_mel_cafe
is def one of the best cafe's around this area (& the next 😂). I don't like dining at cafes but this was simple food, done well👍

While we didn't get to jump on the #unicornfrappuccino bandwagon, we have our talented barista @damien_tc creating awesome #latteart over @carol_mel_cafe!

Do note that green tea latte isn't on their permanent menu - for a limited time only!

Price: S$6

Our 2nd stop for the night @themassessg! Had no intention of returning so soon ever since the dismal last visit, but was still hungry from our dinner at @Fukusenrestaurant & this was the next best option. Fortunately, it was wonderful!

Pros: Food was good. Reasonable prices. Will reorder everything again. Special mention to the candied orange w duck confit which i failed to capture, it was poached 6x so even the skin is soft enough to eat!
🌵
Cons: Dark choc mousse is super intense (most ppl would love it, but i'm the milk/white type 😁). I'm just saying this to balance out the review... what cons? no cons for this visit 😆

It's @lolascafesg again! This is my 7th review, but have not eaten their mains till now 😂😂 I have tried their old menu twice (before starting this IG) & not nice. Will give the new menu a go sometime soon. One of the rare few cafe's that closes late, which i'm grateful for. Previous in-depth review: 11Mar

Never have i posted a consecutive post of same place, diff day dining. My 1st try was so amazing i just had to return @themassessg, but 2nd visit was disheartening 👎 Don't get me wrong, food was still good; but did not have that WOW-za factor, very underwhelming. Fortunately, final 2 dishes of chicken & dessert salvaged the situation and left feeling satiated.

🍃
Pros: Price is reasonable. Chicken tasted plain, but flavour grew on quickly (dip chicken in puree & bacon bits), best dish of the night. Yummy camembert dessert, but batter was thick & unevenly coated. Octopus was ok, not as smokey tho.
🍃
Cons: Eggs was a tiny bowl with less than 1cm high of steamed egg topped with chips??? & too much fish roe (not enough steam eggs to balance saltiness). Being a hardcore Italian crab pasta lover, i'm aware i can't compare as it's not the same in style & price, but C&C pasta was a joke. Tasteless mushy cold pasta with barely there crab meat & don't get me started on the "caviar"😝 Plates were oily/damp to touch. Just, why?

Price: S$71.44 - 2pax, just nice

New restaurant alert 📣 Inventive/experimental/fusion cuisines aren't usually my cup of tea as they tend to overpromise yet underdeliver, to the point i could no longer be bothered with it. But hats off to @themassessg, they have done an excellent job, at very good price-points. Throughly enjoyed my meal there, thanks in-part to the lovely and friendly service.

Pros: Food was awesome. Very reasonable prices, i would say value-for-money even. I can't get over how good the burrata was! 😍 Whenever there's grilled octopus, i'll be sure to order it & this didn't disappoint.
🎉
Cons: Small space. When i 1st saw the menu, didn't know "how" to order as it seemed boring. Salmon? Checked. Truffle fries? Checked. Egg? Tomato? (Lucky for us, was patiently introduced to all the dishes, one by one). Pork loin was nice, but my least favorite as it dried out rather quickly. Did not like the chicharron with it.

Pros: Fast service. Food was tasty, chef sure can cook! 👍 Well-complemented sides. Salmon larger than expected. Loved the yogurt ice cream atop the dessert.
🍓
Cons: Steep prices at such a location/venue AND wasn't full after my main dish 👎No outdoor seats (residential area), super noisy can't wait to leave. Food is not my "style", tad bit pretentious. Didn't like coconut polenta with the pork (i don't like coconut in general), don't feed me gruel 😢
P.S. lighting suxs
