best of both worlds - smooth, fragrant and creamy.
we were captivated at first mouth! fragrant, savoury, sweet with a good balance of spice. only thing was, it skewed towards the sweeter side and id usually prefer my chilli crab more spicy than sweet!
an interesting combi, spaghetti was al dente, roasted pork fragrant though would have appreciated if it was a little crispier on the top. the sundried tomatoes were an acquired taste but a good addition to cut through the meaty flavours (pork & bacon). they had spice options and normal spicy was not spicy at all for me so i’d opt for extra spicy next time!
truly one of the best carrot cakes i’ve had - moist, fragrant with some good textures to bite into. a huge yes for me.
the most interesting of the lot - featuring crepe base that was *cripsy* at the ends. this added an extra texture which we enjoyed! only thing was, we would have preferred it with more of that eggy goodness.
crispy and reminds me so much of taiwan! honestly one of the more authentic ones i've had in sg (but also, point to note, my last visit was in 2017 🙈).
smooth, rich and creamy. our favourite & must-order!
a comforting dish - have it with their homemade chilli for extra flavour boost (the chilli definitely has a kick, so go easy at first try!).
otherwise known as 煲仔饭, this dish requires both the right techniques and equipment to reach its full potential. i like how their claypot rice tasted the same 10 years ago and in fact, improved, since most of their tender chicken pieces are deboned now. aside from that, you’ll find yourself relishing in every single grain of fragrance topped with umami flavour of the good quality salted fish bits and chinese sausage slices.
the only noticeable difference i noticed was that the 锅巴 (scorched rice) portion are lesser than last time’s! if you enjoy them, leave the rice for a little longer before you stir.
love the ambience! seeing a couple of good reviews, i wished i enjoyed the food more here! the set came w 4 soft boiled eggs, 4 slices of toast with spread & 2 drinks.
whilst i really wanted myself to enjoy the food, i found their offerings (though unique) unimpressive. with the exception of their barn-laid eggs and berries jam, which was a big yes from my tastebuds.
soft yet slightly chewy, infused with aromatic coconut. the best part of it is that it is less sweet yet still delectable!
generously filled with molten gula melaka, be prepared for it to burst in your mouth at first bite. (scroll for photo - i had a hard time keeping the liquid in the kueh for the photo 🙈)
