Finally checked one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, 28 HongKong Street, off my to-visit list recently! They’ve recently launched a new cocktail menu with 4 uniquely themed bar concepts - Sin & Misery at the Oldham, Brenda’s Bad Hand, Halogen and 28 HongKong Street, all within the same space. I got to try one cocktail from each concept (clockwise from top left):
~Flight of the Concords (Secco Vermouth, Grand & Noble Pisco, Concord Grape Cordial)
~Hard Pour Corn (Secco Vermouth, Corn Orxata, Lime Vanilla, Smoke)
~Cobbled Together (28HKS Sherry Blend, Smokey Monkey Whiskey, Cointreau, Pineapple, Lactic Oolong, Grapefruit, Mint)
~Brick Lane Martini (Hendricks & Hendricks Orbium Gins, Secco Vermouth, Red Onion, Brick Lane Seasoning)
My favourite cocktail was the Hard Pour Corn, which I felt had a really well-balanced taste with an added hint of smokiness! The Flight of the Concords was pretty good too, with a more fruity, floral taste.
Fab cocktails & good vibes @ 28HK ST 🍸 I’ll be back!
Loved the Escape to Oaxaca 🥂
Great for dates ;)
Hidden bar that adds a veil of mystery. Drinks were pretty good and the highlight was probably the mac & cheese balls hehe 🧀🧀🧀
Fri-YAY #latergram ! So glad my buddy @lipperrrs is back and I have company to explore food places while my HB is enjoying Sydney 😜 Back to 28 HK Street again! The entrance is a deceiving old school shophouse door. Push it open and you’ll discover a world of Gatsby, and omg do I feel like I’m back in Seattle/US. The gold decor and dim ambience. Love it!! You should really make a reservation unless you’re chill like us and don’t mind standing around for an hour till a bar seat opens up. Thanks to PP and Fran for bringing here for my birthday a few weeks ago. Great intro!!
Love the drinks - got the same 93 till infinity (fruity drink with pineapple slice - eat it before it gets soggy) and then ventured into the exotic Cheddar drink (surprisingly not bad. Love the combo of cheese, maybe why I’m sold, and this bourbon-like flavor. Meant to be slowly savored. Can I have 3 more pieces of cheese to go with the drink please??) sitting at the bar was excellent as we got front seats to watch the bartenders mix the drinks. PS if I didn’t mention alr, last time I came we had truffle Mac and cheese balls (the best ever!!!) and pandan churros (omg it’s amazing and not too sweet!! Hits the sweet spot! Lol). Oh yes I was annoyed after midnight that people kept invading my space at the bar to order drinks. hello! Personal space everybody. Anyways. I think the key is to not budge and give any space for people to sneak through. You can really just order from the servers walking around, don’t need to come squeeze at the bar with your sticky bodies... eew.
That aside, we enjoyed the company and drinks so much we stayed till 130am, way past my bedtime. Lol and now two days later I’m still recovering 😂😂 #drklingeats #speakeasy #28hongkongstreet #cheddardrinks #friyay #latergram
If you do not look carefully at the unit number, you will miss them easily but a hint is to look for a unit that has the shutters down and a wooden door with a light shining on it; that’s your cue to push the door to enter. Upon entering, you will be fully immersed in the 28HKS experience, with an eclectic mix of music playing in the airwaves as you browse through the menu for your drinks of choice. Be it sipping onto the Three Stacks (made from rutte celery gin, mancino secco vermouth, fino sherry, pickling spice and served with garden veggies) or the 93’ till Infinity, there are so many unique concoctions that you will want to order almost everything. My favorite has got to be the latter which a classic shake of encanto pisco, pineapple, lemon, cypress and bubbles. Overall, this place has so much character and swagger that you will feel you are being transported into another portal when inside.

The things that go into this concoction is already a winner for me when they have names like Great White Ale, Death’s Door Vodka and Amaro Nomino. The person who created them in the first place deserves an award as well. Besides that, there’s lime, peach and ginger shaken into the mix for a myriad of flavours in this shandy.
