among the mala tang shops in singapore, zhang liang is definitely one of my top favourites… there’s something about the soup that’s so fragrant, milky but not overly so… 🤍

most people go to zhang liang for the mala soup (which i enjoy too) but the dry mala also deserves some recognition… 🤍🤍 not overly oily or dry, but very flavourful and you can experience a shiok (yet not overly so) numbing sensation & spicy punch with every bite. special shoutout to the thick sweet potato noodles that go so well with the seasoning! 9/10

I opted for the dry version and it was yummy too! Used to only have Thw soup version.

The tomato base is pretty, not the ridiculously intense kind but strong enough yet drinkable.

THEIR INTESTINES SUCK, there's a foul smell that seeps into the entire broth

Out of all the balls, they were all decent but the cuttlefish is a standout. For those who don't usually get balls, you should try the cuttlefish.

Bamboo shoots were fine but slightly sour

Beef had a bite but thankfully was sliced very thinly and fatty enough so it's quite palatable

Beef tripe was passable

Overall hits and misses, the broths aren't good enough to make me return either. Yangguofu just across the road left a much stronger impression

Jesus this fed more than 1 but the price is scary

The pork belly has a nice bite, most ingredients were cooked well and potato was Stellar w a slightly soft texture.

The sauce is pretty mild, mainly peanut based and thin so it is quite different from the usual. Even at medium heat there's barely any heat, I prefer stronger flavours.

💯 Mala Tang!

They have a wide range of less commonly seen ingredients to choose from (including fish roe ball, scallops, prawns, fish and a whole lot more!)

You’re charged per 100g here instead of the items you take! It costs $2.88 per 100g (min. 300g) and you’re able to choose your soup base (mala, mushroom and tomato)!

They have a condiments section on the side where you’re able to add on more ma, more la, sesame oil, sesame sauce etc! (think haidilao condiments section but for mala instead 😋) This place is great for everyone as you’re able to control the spice levels for each bowl!

The soup was sooo tasty, would recommend trying it before adding anything further! My bowl came up to $13.87 which was really worth it considering the amount of meat i added 😍

I really enjoyed this MalaTang, it was creamy and not too oily! Will definitely be back for more 🤤😍
