Got the boneless fried chicken with sweet sauce. Previously tried the same with spicy sauce, so the sweet was not as good as there was no kick from the spice and was more one-dimensional. Still enjoyed it too, as the skin was crispy and sauce was still flavourful. The jajangmyeon was too soggy and did not impress, which was surprising.
Visiting Woorinara on a rainy day, we ordered this as we thought it would be great comfort food. It certainly didn disappoint, as it was served piping hot! The soup comes with a bowl of rice, which you should mix with some tofu and soup for the best flavour!!
The soup is not very spicy (despite its colour) and in fact, we think there is a tinge of seafood flavour in the soup. Other than tofu, you can find quite a lot of shrimps in the dish, a generous serving of mushrooms, as well as a piece of half crab!
The dish is great for sharing and at $13++, it is really value-for-money given its serving size.
Came back here for the yum yum chicken with the sweet sauce! This is the small serving, where you get around 8 pieces of chicken for $18++! I think this is just right for sharing amongst three people and if you have more, you may want to get another serving of chicken.
Fried chicken was cooked well, as the insides were tender and legitly boneless, while the outside was really crispy even when coated in the sweet sauce! Would definitely come back for this everytime I visit Woorinara!
On a side note, while the place was quite empty on a Saturday afternoon, it is really crowded at dinnertime and it may be best to make a reservation first!
Came with a bowl of rice and was sizzling hot. Beef amount was generous and really soft! Soup was very sweet-tasting and delicious with lots of ingredients like tang hoon, enoki, carrots and the beef itself. Good for sharing. Soup remained hot till the end and was really satisfying.
We could choose from the sweet or spicy sauce and we got the spicy one which was indeed quite spicy. We needed a break after eating one piece. Sauce was generous and was tasty. Chicken was tender and not overfried with a very crispy skin. Skin was crispy even with the sauce. There were 9 pieces but we ate before we took the photo and it was quite generous as each piece was quite large. Ban chan was also delicious and there was 7 different ones which were all good!
While I normally get the normal seafood kimchi pancake, I decided to try the cheese version out of curiosity today! Cheese was really stretchy and it was nice that the cheese was layered only at the tip of each piece. This allows you to try the pancake both with and without the cheese. :)
The only issue is that there was a lot more kimchi than seafood, so we are not very sure if it is worth the $23++. But it shouldn't be an issue if you are sharing with friends. :)
Today, I went for the yum yum chicken with the sweet sauce as the spicy version previously made my tummy a little uncomfortable after dinner. It certainly didn disappoint! Furthermore, there is an option to go "boneless" and if you don't want to get your hands dirty, this is the way to go. The half serving is just right for 2 and it might be a little small for 3 or more, unless you are ordering fried chicken with multiple flavours. :)
The jjm noodles were softer than expected, sauce was very savoury and got a bit salty towards the end. But there was a rather generous portion of onions + beef pieces. Decent but I’ve had better! It’s kinda similar to hawker beef noodles with 粗米粉.
Stew was meh, I didn’t have much of it. There is a part of a small crab which was surprising. Banchan was also average.
This was alright. Out of the 3 (pork belly, marinated spare ribs & Boston butt), the Boston butt was the nicest but it wasn’t v tender or anything. The marinated spare ribs were tender but I felt like it was a bit salty.
The best thing in this pic? The grilled enoki + hot kimchi LOL but the enoki is really nice, since it’s grilled with the meat juices!
It’s near my place so maaaybe I’ll try their pajeon/bibimbap next time but not in the near future :p Service is pretty slow and they’re nice but everyone is so busy so it’s pretty hard to catch their attention. Also doesn’t help that it feels like they block out their peripheral vision and only attend to what they are doing at that time. So if you see someone on the way to do something you gotta expect that it takes a lot more than wildly flailing arms to catch their attention.
Gimbap ($10), essentially rice rolled in seaweed with selected ingredients, is one of my favourite Korean signature foods and my must-order if the Korean restaurant I visit serves it. Woorinara Korean Restaurant (@woorinara.sg) serves the traditional gimbap rolled with vegetables and spam, as well as another version rolled with cheese.
Bukit Timah area is a strong battleground for Korean restaurants in Singapore. For a meat lover like me, the Beef Bulgogi ($15 with rice) from Woorinara Korean Restaurant (@woorinara.sg) has won me over with its robust sweet and savoury marinated beef. 😍 Thick and big slices of beef served on a piping hot plate, every piece was so tender and flavourful, we finished them in no time. If only I could have this everyday without a care of my waistline 😆.
Cheese Seafood & Kimchi Pancake ($23) from Woorinara Korean Restaurant (@woorinara.sg) was totally on point with the satisfying cheese pull, 🤤 it was crispy around the edges and moist in the center.
For the price point, I was expecting at least a few chunks of squid and succulent prawns (like what we had in Korea). Well, it was still comforting to find a few emaciated shrimps 😅.
You can be assured of a hearty meal when you dine at Woorinara. Burppler Ade Tan says this place is a win from just the side dishes alone, with an "amazing variety of sausages, beancurd skin, kimchi tofu, omelette, coleslaw salad, potato salad, kimchi, and spinach." Burppler Wenyi Loh loves the Cold Kimchi Noodle ($15), which is great for whetting the appetite. "Sour and savoury, what more can I say!"

A refreshing bowl of cold noodles for singapore weather! But I think it’s more of a sharing bowl than a individual bowl. It taste a bit sour because of the kimchi thus it’s a good dish to open up your appetite.
It might sound basic but the soup is delicious with flavours. We even added extra noodles! 1 of the good army stew I’ve had.
had the army stew - L ($38), seafood pancake ($16), boneless cheesy fried chicken ($21?).
seafood pancake is better than many i have eaten elsewhere, yes abit oily but still v good (my friends all felt that it was good too)! slightly smaller than the usual huge ass pancakes and hence also cheaper. the army stew had a kimchi soup base, wasnt salty too. had sausages, spam, fishcakes, kimchi, ramen and cheese (pretty basic). not bad.
the chicken was pretty good with the cheese but u gotta eat it fast cus the cheese solidified pretty quickly~ might be better if served on a sizzling grill plate?
this restaurant was q smokey kinda hurt my eyes but my friends werent rly affected.... and kinda wish the staff was more attentive - they were not crowded but we had to try to get their attention a few times. banchan was better in variety but the taste wise was just o k a y only.
overall the meal was pretty not bad, portion wise.... you would feel PRETTY full if you are not a big eater HAHA
Definitely a win just from side dishes alone! Though sides were a little on the salty side, but amazing amazing variety with sausages, beancurd skin, kimchi tofu, omelette, coleslaw salad, potato salad, kimchi and spinach 🥰🥰 You can be assured of a hearty meal when dining here for sure 👍🏻👍🏻
Very value for money, a lot of ingredients inside including prawns, crab, mussels (there were 32!!!), squid, instant noodles, tteobokki, etc. It's good for sharing between 3-4 pax. For the price point, it was very worth it, and comes with free soup refills as well. However the broth gets very salty, especially with the ingredients added inside, so drink more water.
Woorinara has been on my to-go-to list for years and has been recommended by a friend for serving authentic and delicious korean food. We ordered the gimbap, soy fried chicken and jajangmyeon all for $39. The meal reminds me of good home cooked dishes that warms your belly. The portions were generous and very filling. Worth visiting if you are craving for korean in the lorong kilat vicinity.
Comfort food! So nice with rice! Drink it while it’s still bubbling hot! Was surprised to find half crab in it. There was a slight hint of seafood freshness in the soup. Love this soup! 😍
