[Changi Village, Singapore 🇸🇬]

Ipoh Hor Fun Noodle 怡保河粉 (S$4)
Addon Chicken Feet 凤爪 (S$2)

Weng Kee Original Taste Ipoh Hor Fun
Address 🛖 : 2 Changi Village Road, # 01-19 Changi Village Hawker Centre, Singapore 🇸🇬 500002
MRT 🚇 : Pasir Ris (EW1)
Note 📝 : take bus 109 from MRT exit B

The hor fun was soft and smooth. Chicken chop was crispy. The meat was tender and juicy. The broth was savoury and with a little taste of herb. Chilli was not that spicy. Fried wanton was super crispy and the meat was flavourful.

Over at Weng Kee Ipoh Hor Fun, this is the stall that I usually patronize for their Chicken Chop Hor Fun ($4/$5), which comes with a reasonable portion of silky-smooth rice noodles, crispy chicken chop that still retained its crunch despite in the sauce, and finally that magical herbal sauce that they will drench generously before serving. The flavours are not as heavy as you would imagine, instead, it is very well balanced with the savouriness and herbaceous with varying textures from the rice noodles to chicken chop.

What surprises me was that even though I dapao the food, the hor fun still tasted good. It was silky, lathered with their flavourful gravy which had a pleasant tangy taste.
Hor fun portion might not be a lot but definitely a hearty meal.

I seldom do hawker review because rlly everything usually taste more or less similar to me but this caught me by surprise and I think I will really want to go back to the east to get this. Rlly never tried anything like this before and I’m not even a horfun fan.

The broth was flavourful (the lard taste was overpowering and enhanced the broth so much) / the horfun itself was silky and slurped down really easily / the chicken was fried so crisply and the skin itself had a good seasoning on its own. Very happy bowl of goodness :-)

Had the chance to go to Changi Village recently; probably the thing that I had been looking forward to the entire day so much that I have had to get it despite it meaning I would have to eat it without feeling too hungry and that it would make for a rather early dinner.

Really like Weng Kee's rendition for its thick, savoury sauce that it comes with, with the chili helping to add a slightly different dimension of savouriness and also a light hint of spiciness that gives a little kick to tickle the tastebuds; should be pretty manageable even for those with a slightly lower tolerance to spiciness. The fried chicken was not as crisp as I wanted it to be, but does work as a meaty compliment to the Hor Fun overall. I know of some who find this a little overhyped, but this is great for me for the nostalgia factor; a good alternative for another rendition of it that I know I probably will never have a taste of ever again.
