A much needed reprieve from the unbearable heat, Waan Cha offers a selection of macarons, puddings and pretty unique tea blends apart from the classic Thai milk tea. The Thai Pink Milk ($3.30), which I tried, was surprisingly pleasant and light with a tinge of rose-like sweetness. Having picked it just for its colour, the creamy smooth body of the drink reminded me of bandung but with a distinctive flavour that I just couldn’t pinpoint. Hence, the friendly lady boss working behind the counter shared with me that the hint of acidity was from the salak fruit, or better known as the snake fruit, flavoured syrup. Perhaps an acquired taste, the slight astringent edge of the syrup might not be for everyone but I rather enjoyed it as it was well-balanced and not overly sweet.

Decent thai milk tea starting at $3.20 per cup.

They sell flavours like ovaltine milk tea, or rose (bandung) thai milk tea. But I heard the bandung is the worst. The thai milk tea tastes pretty decent, like every other thai milk tea I've tried. It's definitely sweet, but not overly sweet. The tea aroma is pretty strong and can be tasted distinctively. They don't put too much ice into the cup, so you do get a decent portion to drink.

But the location, isn't fantastically convenient, you have to walk across Novena mrt to get to Novena agency, just for thai milk tea. But they also sell macarons.

There's indoor seating for like 6 people, with lawn/outdoor tables and chairs.

I would recommend coming to this place after you've had a meal at Novena regency to get some smooth and cooling thai milk tea. :)

Located across from Novena Church and just a few stores down from Kyushu Pancake Cafe, Waan Cha specialises in milk tea drinks, much like the ones you find on the streets of Thailand. The no-frills store is mainly for takeaway drinks, but there are a couple of seats for those who want to enjoy their housemade macarons ($2.50). Pop by with your colleagues after lunch and grab the iced Thai Coffee Milk Tea ($3.30) to go — it's refreshing and makes for a great caffeine boost. The Thai Milk Tea ($3.30) is not as sweet as the ones we are familiar with, and is made with a blend of spices and black tea leaves from Thailand. The crowd-pleasing Thai Milk Green Tea ($3.30) owes its emerald green to a blend of sencha, matcha and green tea leaves while the Thai Pink Milk ($3.30) is made with a combination of evaporated and condensed milk, with a splash of concentrated sala liquid. Pro tip: Flash your CPF or IRAS staff pass to enjoy 10 percent off your bill, or get one free if you buy three!
Avg price: $5 per person

A great remedy for now but definitely can't beat the one we had in BKK 🍵

Hard-pressed to choose just one drink? Grab your friends and head down to Waan Cha tomorrow between 12 to 5pm because they'll be offering a ONE-FOR-ONE promotion in celebration of their official opening!

I'm hardly a coffee person, but my favourite has to be the Thai White Coffee and the "yuan yang" Thai Coffee Milk Tea (not pictured). Also, check out new beverages: Almond Milk (another of my faves!), Almond Coffee, and Thai Ovaltine!

At $3.30 for a regular cup, it sure hits the spot for my sweet tooth! I love Thai milk tea and this wasn't too sweet for my liking unlike the other popular ones in say, The Cathay? 😂
I also tried their ovaltine version which was much sweeter than the Thai milk tea. 🙌 model : @jellylovefats
