The dry Tantan Men was served with a generous serving of minced meat, a ramen egg, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts and some spinach. The chili sauce added gave the dish some kick but it wasn’t too spicy. The sauce also had a strong peanut taste to it and mixing everything together made the dish an umami bomb. The noodles were also really chewy. At $10.80++, which is inclusive of a complimentary bowl of white rice, this is pretty worth it! Water was also complimentary at this eatery.
First time trying Kazan Shoyu. It was really good. I recommend the small portion if you had not skip a meal. The tonkatsu was really flavourful, and charshu pieces were nice and chunky. I don't recommend having it wirh rice. I definitely think you can share 1 large portion, and top up 1 bowl of rice. Fun experience!
For $10.90, I’d say this bowl of ramen is an ansolute STEAL. It was spicy, rich and super packed with flavour! I loved how rich the sauce was and how springy and bouncy the noodles were, though I’d have liked a little more meat in the bowl.
8.5/10
Interesting experience at Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen at JEM. Soup is poured into the stone bowls and the funnel is placed on top for the smoke to exhaust. It’s more of a gimmick, but the ramen also tasted not too bad. Free side dish during lunchtime. Portions are really huge so don’t go for the large bowl unless you are starving...
The day was freezing. Your desk right in the line of fire of the AC which was once your pride and joy now turned into your worst enemy. You really want something to warm your tummy. RAMEN. I tried the shoyu ramen which comes with a really slow-cooked delectable piece of charsiew. The egg that comes with the ramen could be better though. But with free flow eggs, the value more than makes up for it.
(We spent around $35 for 2 people.)
Lunch set $15 comes with green tea and rice. There's cabbage, carrots, green peppers, noodles and roast pork in the stone pot. Overall, it is pretty good. I requested for warm water to dilute the soup.
