If you’re looking for a K-BBQ spot in Duxton that swaps the usual "smoky mess" for a classy, cafe-like vibe, The House · CHUNG DAM is a solid find. Just a 6-min walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT, it’s perfect for a polished dinner date or a chill catch-up with friends.

We went for the Pork Belly (160g), Thinly Sliced Beef, and the Chicken-Green Onion Jeon. The meats were juicy and plump, expertly charcoal-grilled by the attentive staff.

Tip: Ask the staff to leave the meat on the grill a little longer—getting those edges extra crispy makes a world of difference!

The "Must-Orders"
Pickled Squid Banchan: This stole the show. It’s flavorful, not too spicy, and hits that perfect sweet-salty-acidic balance with a lovely chewy texture.

Mini Cold Buckwheat Noodles: Don’t skip this! The springy noodles and broth are elevated by thin beef jeon slices, pickled radish, and a super sweet, fragrant pear that adds a beautiful floral note to the dish.

The Experience
What I loved was the versatility of the wraps. They provide fresh lettuce and perilla leaves, along with refillable wasabi, curry powder, salt, and ssamjang. It lets you play around with different flavor pairings so every bite feels fresh.

Note: We had a reservation for a Thursday night and were seated immediately. Though we initially worried about the portion sizes, we left incredibly full and even had to takeaway the leftover Jeon.

Verdict: 10/10 for service and food quality. Very beginner-friendly!

ChungNam is a surprisingly classy Korean BBQ spot within walking distance from Tanjong Pagar MRT. The high-quality Australian Wagyu beef used here is cooked to perfection by attentive service staff, over charcoal, unlocking flavours that leave us feeling truly uplifted. The meat felt incredible succulent and wonderfully tender, a testament to its exceptional quality. One is spoilt for choice with a wide spread of side dishes. It is a truly elevated dining experience at affordable pricing.

Order the house feast consisting of boneless short ribs, marinated rib eye cap and thinly sliced brisket. The waitress grilled the food over a charcoal stove and the food was really delicious accompanied by the side dishes.

really high quality kbbq meat, and i also particularly enjoyed the mango shaved ice - unlike most bingsu that overload on ingredients, this was simple but delicious.

This KBBQ place instantly feels different from most others, simply because it feels more classy and less grungey. But if you're looking for a quieter, perhaps more romantic dinner setting, this may be it. Food-wise, we ordered the items that our server Daniel recommended, which turned out to be pretty good choices. The meats were really tasty, although the beef short ribs aren't really the cheapest. My wife loved the naengmyeon, which was chewy and yums with some mustard and vinegar. The potato cheese pancakes were nice as well, but guess it's suitable for more people cos we didn't manage to finish it. Overall, would recommend for delicious K-food and great service!

Clean aesthetic decor, good if you like a less greasy place. Cold noodles were very nice!
