set lunch was reasonably priced with a half serving of lobster and scallops for starters. perfect place for dates or drinks during their happy hour with oysters at only $3++ a pop** service is great too! helmed by chef alysia tan, you can expect quality food at this well-known steakhouse. situated prominently in raffles place, the decor is absolutely stunning. check out their basement if you ever get a chance to 😉
Had their lunch which they offer a set lunch of 3 courses at the price of about $45? I would say it's of reasonable price.
.
My partner ordered the set lunch. Appetiser, he got the Caesar salad which I think was really good. With the touch of the onsen egg, it added more smooth and creamy texture to the salad. The lettuce was fresh and the Caesar dressing was good. The main course was a Chicken 'Kiev', a Russian style stuffed chicken? I believe the stuffing was uni butter inside the fried chicken breast. I didn't like it as much but I like the batter of the fried chicken. It was served with baby spinach and water melon radish - very interesting! Dessert was a choco tart and one can never go wrong with it. It was really creamy, thick and tasty
.
I didn't order the set lunch but I got the Duck Confit from their lunch ala carte menu. First time trying Duck Confit and it blew my mind. Didn't know it will taste this good, even with the lentils! I don't normally eat beans or lentils but these lentils were cooked so good and tasty, I finished it up. Duck has a crispy skin and tender meat inside, well cooked. Slightly salty though.
.
The restaurant has a really warm and comfortable setting with stunning decor. Service was good and overall, I'd give this a 8/10? Thank you for the food. I might come back for more (:
The Hokkaido Scallops (~$26)!!! So plump and JUICY AND TENDER, I definitely recommend this one 🤤🤤 The scallops separated well in a bite, and the almond tuille added a nutty sweetness to the saltier popcorn purée!

Slightly on the small side and not as flavourful as I’d have liked it to be, but the Grilled Maine Lobster (~$60) was a sight for sore eyes. The bright red sauce by the side added a tangy flavour to the lobster, saving it from being too bland 😋 What filled me up was actually the barley and corn risotto though, thick and mushy. .

Steak and Frites : Butcher’s selection honestly wasn’t that great — definitely on the smaller side and a tad too chewy. Double fried shoestring fries were addictive though 😛

Crushing on the looks of this converted Colonial building with its huge double doors, high ceiling, deep teal-coloured walls completed with gold and bronze furnishings. Elegant and inviting without being overbearing.
Meet Chef @alysiareynechan’s recommendation (also right now, my favourite dish on the menu), the super juicy Roasted Hokkaido Pork Loin with Vanilla Cauliflower Purée, Raisin & Pinenut Agrodolce and a Fennel Nashi Pear Salad.
At first I was skeptical on the addition of vanilla to the purée, but it added an extra dimension of creaminess to the dish, especially when you have it with the raisins and vinegary mustard seeds. Damn, that’s delicious.
Can’t wait to be back!
Only available during dinner.

H O S T E D
A couple of weeks have passed since I attended the tasting at The Black Swan (thanks @bydanieleng for the invitation) but this indecently good Twix Tart by new Head Chef Alysia Chan is still stuck on my mind. There is something about it that has EVEREEEETHING right on the button.
For starters, she does not stinge on the voluptuous chantilly cream. That in my books, already makes it a winner. I really love how it gives each bite of the buttery, crunchy pastry lined with sea salt caramel and filled with almost-solid, cool dark chocolate ganache, cookie crumble and juicy cherries a pillow of softness to ride on.
I guess when a chef creates a dessert based on her favourite candy bar, the force of inspiration is strong.
H O S T E D
Having followed The Black Swan’s new Head Chef Alysia Chan’s culinary career for years, I was curious to see what she would bring to this establishment’s table so to speak. I was not disappointed.
Even though I was feeling a little tired that evening, it did not detract from my enjoyment of her food. She has embraced the minimal food wastage movement and totally owned it, as evidenced deliciously in quite a few of the dishes we got to try.
I would not hesitate to have the entire menu again as I felt each item was well thought out and executed. Shown above is the first half of what we were served (the remaining half appears in a second post):
(Clockwise from top left)
Broccoli & Pine Nut Hummus with Polenta Chips ($14++) - a tasty vegan-friendly dip that has discarded stems of broccoli, carrot leaves, sundried tomatoes and toasted pine nuts blended together.
Sourdough with Beef Fat Butter ($8++) - The crisp and the chewiness of the flavourful #bread was pure pleasure, and with a schmear of the sinful butter, even better.
Charcuterie Platter ($38++) - Get one to share. You won’t regret it. The housecured meats are tender and intense in flavour. Condiments are also on point.
Grilled Maine Lobster ($60++) - Lighter than the classic Mornay sauce, the crustacean is prepared with a piquant romesco instead and accompanied by chewy black barley and corn risotto for a substantial meal.
San Marzano and Hokkaido Corn Salad - A very decent salad with crisp fresh baby spinach and arugula tossed in a white balsamic vinaigrette.
Venus Clams ($24++) - You’ll want to bathe in the lip-smacking sauce. An order of sourdough is useful to mop up every drop.
The world’s your oyster when Happy hour goes at $9++ for a drink and oysters at 3++ each! Ps: The dipping sauce which came along w the oysters were really really refreshing - tangy & whets the appetite!
Really large and juicy slab of steak! It can get quite salty after a while. $60++ for this:)
Famous for their bar and steak, the Black Swan also has nice choice for foodies that prefer to have a lighter meal. Cauliflower was succulent and beautifully seared, topped with Ibsen egg and black truffle pepper for greater taste. Lobster tail was nothing surprising, but good if you are like me who has to have some protein in order to get full XD
Only need two words - so fresh! Don't miss the weekday offers - $2 oysters and $9 house pours.
Huge portions, nicely flavoured but I found the cut too chewy for me.
It was packed with the business crowd and I can see why. Decent set lunch menu at decent prices and huge portions. I chose the Vidalia Onion broth to start as it got me at bone marrow. Yes, it was yummy and the onion broth was rich in flavour and full of umami.
Granny Smith Apple confit , prunes & Armagnac ice cream. I foresee a tussling of forks over the last bite of this gorgeous take on the traditional tarts aux pommes. That warm buttery base is poetic pastry.
Steak was nicely done and the frites was a good accompaniment. It's a bit expensive but was expected as the place is atas.
Expecting the gatsby ambience in this place. Ordered festive dinner which ia shown in picture, more like a jumbo set for two persons. Food overall is nice but not as expected. Probably too much meat for us as the steak is big.
Dont think its is worth the price.
$270+ for one big plate plus a glass of wine.
Btw the services from the staffs is good!
Yum
😋
Happy Hour $2 Oysters (limited to 6 per drink) - Shucked upon demand & served with Yuzukosho mignonette. Indeed fresh but sadly too ‘skinny’
😜
Buttermilk Fried Chicken Lollipops ($19) - Fried drumlets always good with drink
😋
Iberico Salchichon ($26) - dry-cured pork with sea salt & red wine served with tomato-rubbed bread. Not really what we expected the taste to be as it was too ‘waxy’ with strong after-taste & definitely no trace of red wine. The bread was crispy & nice though
😊

Highly recommended & it did capture the heart of my dinner date
🍷
At the background was that dainty pink wine: Rose ($15) - Domaine Du Pegau Pink Pegau 2015 from Rhône Valley France. Yeah, my other dinner date enjoyed it
🍹
Tropical Tycoon ($21) - my choice of cocktail for the nite that was half gone at the background. Swipe next picture to view this beauty of pineapple rum, kaya, lemon, soda, bitters
🍟
Glimpse of Hand Cut Truffle Fries ($14) on the table. Swipe twice next to have a closer view of the truffles on the fries
