The 1872 Clipper Tea Company may be a spot that is best known for retailing their teas, though those who may have been to their ION Orchard outlet might notice how the outlet seemingly does have a dine-in area wheee one could actually sit down and enjoy their various bakes and brewed teas on the spot. What has been introduced for quite some time now would be their tea-flavoured choux puffs which are co-developed with Dulcet & Studio way back in the day — that being said, the folks at The 1872 Clipper Tea Company has since introduced a new lineup of Milk Tea Parfaits that are available for both dine-in and takeaway. A collaboration between The 1872 Clipper Tea Company and Carrara; there are a total of three variants of the Milk Tea Parfait being sold at The 1872 Clipper Tea Company — named after the respective teas that the ice-cream flavours are churned from, the three Milk Tea Parfaits would namely the 101, Shibuya and Kowloon.
We were pretty spoilt for choice to decide which of the three Milk Tea Parfaits would we like to go for — we eventually settled for the 101, which is described in the menu to come with elements such as black pearls, milk foam and condensed white sugar. The 101 tea itself is said to be “inspired by Taiwan’s iconic brown sugar bubble tea”; the namesake drawing reference from the Taipei 101. The 101 Milk Tea Parfait here brings that Taiwanese influence to the next level by being more of a bubble tea done in a de-constructed format served in a martini glass.
Here, the 101 Tea does carry a very prominent tea aroma that seems to be pretty reminiscent to take of Assam Black Milk Tea — especially fragrant when had on its own. The addition of milk foam to the parfait replicates that of the macchiato cap that some may opt for as an add on to their bubble tea; it is interesting how the milk foam here feels more like a neutral element, considering how the other elements are on the sweeter side though the typical macchiato / milk cap tends to carry its own sweetness when it comes as an add-on to milk tea / tea beverages at the usual bubble tea establishment. The condensed white sugar seems to refer to the shard of crystallised sugar that tops the scoop of ice-cream; a sweet element which we found to be a tad unnecessary however, considering how chewing on it tends to cause the piece to stick to the tooth though in its own right does help to improve the aesthetic of the dessert. Overall, quite a thoughtful milk tea parfait that pays homage to both the 101 tea that The 1872 Clipper Tea Company carries, as well as to what spirit behind the said tea. Looking forward to give the Kowloon Milk Tea Parfait a go soon — the combination of Egg Tart Crumbs and Condensed Milk with their Kowloon tea churned into ice-cream does sound like an interesting one not to be missed!
🥧 Tea-flavoured Cream Puffs

📌 ION Orchard / Jewel
💰 $4.50 each
Didn’t know that The 1872 Clipper Tea Co. had cream puffs! Even better, they’re tea-flavoured. Each puff comes with a sugary cookie crust, making them even more delectable.
☕ Earl Grey Tea Puff
This is the most suitable puff for tea enthusiasts, the tea taste is a lot stronger than all the other flavours.
🌹 Eternal Garden Tea Puff
The most floral-tasting cream puff, its infused with rose giving it a much more fragrant taste.
🥛 Milk Tea Puff
While it didn’t exactly taste like a cup of Teh C, the tea flavour was still evident. Its a lot lighter than the other flavours, more suitable for those with milder palates.
💕 Lychee Fiesta Tea Puff
Probably my favourite because of the fruitiness of the lychee cream!
They’re a little pricey for their small sizes but so pretty and high quality.
4⭐ Utilised the Kris+ app birthday deal where there's a complimentary drink with purchase of any item. We purchased a puff each and chose a complimentary drink. There ain't much space for dine in as there's only 3 tables available. We are lucky to get a table.
