Seems like everyone is switching to healthier lifestyle, which is no doubt a positive phenomenon. I opted TUNA as my main, Brown rice for carb, with 4 choices of vegetable (red cabbage, corn, cucumber and red onion) and 2 sauces (RM20.90). Small serving of tuna... as far as I can remember less than 6 cube size. The vegetable is no doubt fresh and served cold, but the sauces are too overwhelming.
Another best seller series I gotten today is this salmon and tuna bowl. Serving of the fish is sufficient. Vege mix in the bowl is fresh cucumber and lettuce. It goes well with sushi rice. Again, I am not impressed with the lean variety of vege topping. Price: RM25.90, Food: 6/10
Got the chance to try out the new poke bowl in town today. Angry bird is a bowl with chicken as protein. There is lettuce, and interestingly with corn flakes inside, jalapeno, and onions. Sauce were good, vege were fresh. However, overall I don't enjoy that much basically due to lack of variety in ingredient. They did have create your own bowl service, but it is not coming yet. I wasn't so sure is current menu finalized, as I found offerings in the shop is different with what stated on the website. Poke bowl on the website is more interesting. Price: RM18.90, Food: 6/10
One of the problems for me at poke bowl joints is I don’t eat raw tuna or salmon. So am always happy to find chicken or vege options in the menu.
This bowl comes with grilled chicken, romaine lettuce, red onion, jalapeño, corn flakes with teriyaki andnchili garlic aioli. You can also opt to have it as a sushi salad, sushi burrito (+RM1) or pineapple poke bowl (+RM2).
The ingredients for this bowl goes very well together. The spiciness comes from the jalapeño. Love!
This is RM16.90.
Decent poke bowls, but what I found most interesting are the sauces. My bowl had the yuzu miso and umami sweet soy. They also have Japanese citrus, chili garlic aioli and California curry if you’re up for the adventure!
However my poke bowl was drenched with sauce and I could barely taste the other ingredients in the bowl. My friend found her Pineapple Express lacking sauce instead. But the restaurant and its staff are new and we’d attribute the inconsistencies to growing pains for now! Don’t let that stop you from trying the food here :) Currently Build Your Own bowls are not available but you can pick from a variety of the chef’s signature creations from the menu.
Word on the street is that this Las Vegas-born poke restaurant’s menu is designed by Nobu's ex-executive chef, Karu Wedhas, so you can expect a level of finesse. You won't go wrong with signatures like the aptly named It’s Stupid Good (RM23). The umami-packed bowl comes with fresh tuna or salmon cubes, surimi crab and crunchy tempura flakes over a bed of rice. PJ folks, look forward to one opening later this month at The Curve!
