Ambience:
We went to Spring Coffee over the weekend. It is a small and quaint cafe located on the second floor of Hong Lim Square. Seating is limited, and the line of patrons waiting to be seated started to build up after lunchtime ( 2-3 pm). There are counter seats and table seats. Table seats allow you to watch the baristas at work. Seems like it would be a good place to study/work on weekdays and hang out with friends over the weekends.
Drinks:
We had their signature drinks - the Spring Latte ($7) and the Spring Matcha ($7.50). The Spring Latte was a lightly sweetened drink with dessicated coconut and likely gula melaka coating the rim of the cup. Strongly recommended for those who like local, tropical flavours. It was difficult to discern the taste of the coffee itself however due to the added flavorings - good for those who donโt quite like the taste of coffee. 4.5/5. The Spring Matcha arrived unsweetened with an earthy and bitter taste of matcha. I think lightly sweetening the drink would have given the drink more balance. 3.5/5.
Staff:
Staff were polite and pleasant. They were prompt in refilling our complimentary cups of water.
Overall impressions:
A great place to chill out after a meal at the nearby Hong Lim Market. Seating is limited however. Probably not worth a special trip but a good option if youโre in the area.
The pretty layers of green, pink and red really said โspring ๐ธ๐๐คโ to us. Made with their homemade strawberry jam base, and topped with strawberry milk, this added a good and sweet balance to the matcha. Although the milk and matcha initially tasted like separate components, they mixed well towards the end, and we especially liked the texture of the jam! โบ๏ธ
This was really earthy and bitter, but not the umami kind. Their matcha is unsweetened by default and the matcha sure packed a punch, so it may not be for everyone! ๐ซก

While we didnโt catch the promo in time, but weโre glad that this spring themed strawberry matcha is now a permanent item (albeit with limited quantities per day) ๐๐ป๐
The ambience at Spring Coffee was lovely, and the wood furnished space was cozy and calming with a rustic charm. It was a rainy day when we went - and everyone was huddled indoors, watercolouring, crocheting, catching up with friends or getting their work done. Do note that and their prices are nett ๐คฉ!! and that plugs are not available. We would love to come back and try their coffee โ๏ธ
While I liked the housemade strawberry jam laid on the base of the cup, I wasnโt a big fan of the sweet strawberry milk. The matcha itself was enjoyable, and Iโll try the matcha on its own again in future!
($8.50) I really went there for drinking yuzu matcha latte under match may-hem series last month (may). I also running out of time to do stuff that I wanted :"). I really like the fusion taste for yuzu (sour) with matcha (bitter) latte. Bc she didn't added milk inside matcha, just pure matcha only. I never regretted to go back for trying other matcha drink even it's under limited edition for last month.
