[JB, MALAYSIA] If you are looking for a huge selection of pastries and pretty great coffee, @sevenoaksmalaysia is one place to go for! We had a selection of pastries and most were hits.
The G.O.A.T. (~RM25) was one sinful yet delicious croissant. With a chocolate ganache centre, chocolate fudge on top and chocolate cookie dough all around, this would be every chocolate lover's dream. Definitely one pastry to share 😂
The Ham Croissant (RM20) is one savoury pastry to try too! With strong savoury flavours and a very flaky crust, this is a contrast of flavour compared to the other pastries. There was quite abit of mayo within so might be quite rich!
As for coffee, the Iced Rose Latte (RM12) was a good choice and I loved it. It wasn't too sweet, the rose flavour was not overpowering and complemented the smooth fragrant coffee well!
We did not try their mains but their pastries are not too bad!
Didn't expect to find Lei Cha (Thunder Tea) here. A traditional Hakka dish consisting of rice, peanuts, long beans, and Choy Sum, all bathed in a broth of green tea leaves, mint leaves, Thai basil leaves, peanut and sesame seeds.
Seven Oaks Lei Cha broth has a hint of what I think is chicken stock, making it savoury, not a bad thing, but I always preferred my Lei Cha broth to be more minty fresh with less flavour.
Overall this is a good place to try Lei Cha if you've never had it before!
A very savoury meal. The spiciness of mala compliment the juiciness of the minced meat. Served with short grain rice, it really is a fulfilling meal.
RM17
Finally tried cruffin after they have been in the pastry field for such a long time! Sweet chocolatey hazelnut filled the whole cruffin and topped with almond bits. Nicely executed crossiant-style muffin for a change!
Heat it up and the molten salted egg did flow when cut into the crossiant. Crossiant was flaky and crispy, pair it nicely with the savoury yet sweet filling!
Golden lava croissant. (RM 6.80) 💫
Flaky, buttery, crispy exterior with a puffy interior that opened to reveal a lava which... didn't really flow as much as we thought it'd have. After all, this is the place they said which created the lava croissant. The lava was slightly thick and yolk-y; it's for those who like a more cloying egg yolk taste. 💫
Really pretty surroundings. Perhaps worth a try, but the 2nd time would just be the plain croissant for me
