Ordered whole dot (20sgd) and cafe latte(5sgd), sausage and salted ham are too salty... scramble egg is a bit liquid, toast is a little hard;

For those who like their desserts with a touch of class and sophistication, Selfish Gene Patisserie is the place for you. Situated one floor above the popular Selfish Gene Cafe, this new patisserie is intended to be a more "adult" dessert extension to the existing Selfish Gene cafe concept. Meshing together Asian influences with French techniques, the patisserie offers plated and deconstructed desserts in a minimalist yet warm cafe setting. Go for the Soya - a deconstructed tofu cheesecake dessert with red miso sauce, crumble, homemade green tea ice-cream and mochi. Always check for exciting seasonal dessert items such as the Pierre Herme Ispahan-esque Rose Yogurt Panna Cotta that was available on the menu during the Valentine's Day period. Drinks are also available, making this place the perfect sweet ending to any night out.

A peculiar case of deconstruction being so technically masterful and the lemon tart sensory experience being so faithfully and flawlessly recreated that it renders the entire exercise otiose. Still a good lemon tart though. 3.6/5

Essentially sticky date pudding which eats clean. The ginger element of the pudding is not immediately apparent, but when you use your tongue to slowly process the experience (instead of just chewing and swallowing like a common barbarian) its subtle gingery charms slowly emerge. Those who are impatient can simply chew on the pieces of candied ginger, which are spicy and effective. Both the caramel ice cream and the sticky toffee are fairly restrained in terms of sweetness, so that you don't particularly feel all "moment on the lips, forever on the hips". 3.8/5

The rose yogurt panna cotta was like a subdued Bandung pudding who didn't wash its mouth after indulging its Llaollao cravings. If you top a spoonful of pudding with the lychee and try it with the raspberry coulis, it makes for a convincing recreation of the Pierre Hermé Ispahan experience. I also liked the salty crumbs, which added texture and were delightful and almost savoury. 4/5 [Note: This was a Valentine's Day special item.]
