Pretty much been eons since we ever had stepped foot into a Secret Recipe outlet and we probably never would find ourselves here if not for another failed attempt on heading to another dining establishment within Plaza Singapura for dinner. Whilst looking for an alternative spot to settle for dinner, it dawned upon us that Secret Recipe does serve up Chicken Corden Bleu on its menu; their rendition also been one that we have never tried before as well. Considering so, we found ourselves winding up at the Secret Recipe outlet at Plaza Singapura for dinner.
The Chicken Corden Bleu at Secret Recipe is a dish that is listed in the “Chicken” sub-section of the “Food” category of the menu — priced at $18.90++, this does end up being pretty much what one would expect out of a typical Chjcken Corden Bleu dish; tenderised chicken breast that has been rolled up encasing Turkey Ham and cheese, with the chicken breast being coated in panko crumbs and deep-fried to a beautiful, golden brown exterior. Having had a number of Chicken Corden Bleu dishes from several establishments over the years, we do think that this is a satisfactory variant of a Chicken Corden Bleu that both satisfies any raging cravings for the dish, as well as an introduction experience to how a Chicken Corden Bleu is like. Slicing down the Chicken Corden Bleu, the melted cheese within eagerly oozes out from within; the golden brown panko crumb batter being crisp, while the meat was tender and easy to slice through. As we went for the meat, it is evident that Secret Recipe had used a fair bit of pepper to flavour up the chicken here; the chicken being savoury with a very slight note of peppery spiciness that lingers at the back of the tongue. The turkey ham adds a slight contrast of saltishness notes typical to that of cured meat, while the oozy, melted cheese does provide yet another dimension of savouriness here. We were pretty glad the dish did not feel particularly greasy here. Accompanied with the Chicken Corden Bleu would be a garden salad that seems to be drizzled with a lime-infused vinaigrette; was quite impressed by how thin the cucumber was being sliced here, while the fries were also crisp and well-seasoned for flavour.
Whilst the Chicken Corden Bleu did hit the spot, the Iced Ipoh White Coffee did somewhat remind us on the reasons why we had written off visits to Secret Recipe — it does seem like they had brewed the beverage hot and just dumped in ice cubes thereafter; this resulted in the drink being still warm and the bottom, but the top was especially dilute from the melted ice cubes. Whilst this would have been slightly more forgivable at a Mamak establishment (considering the norms), we were expecting a little more from a casual diner like Secret Recipe. Aside from that, we also did find it a little comical that the serviette came especially thin and seemingly of a single-ply. All that being said, we did feel that the service staff were trying their best to ensure all guests are well taken care of during our visit there — something that is worth commending given the sort of establishment that they are.
Went to Secret Recipe recently and tried their Chocolate Fudge Cake ($8-10+ per slice after gst etc)😍 I really like secret recipes cakes and tried a few flavours before. Overall ratings definitely a 10/10 as it is one of my favourite cake stores🤣 Would visit again soon😋
Soft and mild in flavour. Could hardly taste the cream cheese and the chocolate. Still not too bad if u put away your expectations of a normal brownie
Not bad at all. Their signature for a reason. Seems like there were more banana pieces last time though
When i had the first bite, i fell in love with it! Some sort of bread - its abit hard on the outside (toast) & soft on the inside. Not forgetting the whip cream & ice cream & drizzling of the sea salt caramel, everything is just a perfect combination!
My favourite cake from Secret Recipe! Look at the chunks of banana, their signature Chocolate Banana Cake is moist and not too sweet with the smooth chocolate cream and light sponge cake layer!
