Not bad chirashi bowls! First time trying Chirashi King Kong's truffle rice and it's really pretty good! Their Chirashi Don ($14.90) may seem to be a small bowl, but it's full of ingredients! From salmon, to tuna, to swordfish, the sashimi pieces were pretty fresh. I wouldn't say that the quality of sashimi pieces were top notch, but they definitely fulfil my cravings! The truffle rice had a good bite and was very flavourful as well. Love the ikura as well, as they were bursting full of seafood savouriness. Overall, quite an enjoyable bowl 🥰

Swordfish sashimi 5+/3pcs Not an expert, the fish seemed alright to be, but the inside was too cold. Not properly defrosted I think

Beef yakiniku don 13.9+gst add on beef+5+ Beef was passable, it's abit tough. It's not yakiniku, it's overcooked shabu beef w yakiniku sauce. Usually comes w their signature truffle rice but I don't like truffle so I changed to sushi rice instead, that's a small mistake already The egg goes very well w the yakiniku sauce tho, but one big problem is that the egg was stone cold. Very unpleasant

Salmon Mentaiko Bowl ($12.90) [✨NEW OUTLET✨] Good news for westies 🎉 Famous for their affordable truffle rice bowls, Chirashi King Kong is now available in the West! We visited the new outlet at sunset way today on their opening weekend. 🌟 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗸𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝘄𝗹 ($𝟭𝟮.𝟵𝟬) With a layer of torched mentaiko sauce and aburi salmon, this is a must try for mentaiko lovers! The signature truffle rice is mixed with fish roe for a burst of flavour in every bite. Enjoyed the marinated jellyfish too! My only gripe is that the portion is on the smaller side, so might have to add on more carbs/ingredients.

Yakiniku Bowl ($13.90) Limited bowls daily, the sliced rib eye beef bowl came topped with an onsen egg 🐄 Chirashi King Kong is known for their Japanese rice bowls that comes at wallet-friendly prices and they didn't disappoint! As a westie, I'm glad that they opened an outlet at this side of the island for a more convenient chirashi hunt 🤭 Since the outlet is new, we did see a steady stream of customers near lunch time (though nowhere as crowded as the other outlets). Would be back to revisit!

Value For Money Chirashi Don $10.90 for this bowl. Generous slices of salmon (8 slices), and comes with 3 types of Japanese sides. Another highlight is the truffle ebiko rice, very unique, first time having it in a chirashi. Made the whole meal enjoyable cause usually I don’t like the plain rice in most chirashi dons. 8.5/10!

Compared to what I had in 2018 at their Tanjong Pagar outlet, it seemed like their standard has dropped. Salmon Mentai $9.90 with Truffle Rice Every time passing by this shop, always has strong aroma of truffle. One day, I decided to dropped by and find out. Apparently, every dish that has the rice base, it will be served with a fragrant truffle rice. I topped up another $2 for an extra seaweed & jellyfish. Overall, it’s an affordable meal. Perhaps because it’s near NAFA & LASALLE college which has a lot of students.

Chicken Cutlet From Chirashi King Kong Tried the Chicken Cutlet side order from this sushi bowl restaurant and it was a pleasant surprise! The juicy chicken breast was coated in a light, airy batter, fried to a golden crisp perfection. The exterior was crunchy, while the interior remained tender and flavourful. The portion was generous, making it a great value for the price. ($4)

Assorted Bowl The Assorted Bowl ($16.90) comes with 12 slices of assorted seafood on top of flavoured Japanese rice. The sashimi slices are fresh, thick and full of natural sweetness. The rice is equally impressive - I’m not sure what they did to the rice but it is so flavourful that I did not need any additional sauce to go with the sashimi. This is one delicious and value-for-money sashimi bowl that you can find under a HDB flat at Tanjong Pagar Plaza.

Salmon Don ($10.90) Relatively affordable and yummy Japanese dons. The regular salmon came with 8 pieces of juicy salmon pieces. Not the best cuts (and one had a bone) but decent and enjoyable for the price! While most places serve standard plain sushi rice, love that their rendition comes with fragrant rice and a whole range of sides - chewy jellyfish, wakame, and crunchy pickles. The rice was flavoured with distinct but not overpowering truffle, with added delights from tobiko, sesame, and chopped mushrooms. He's formerly from Sushi Hashida and Melbourne’s Kakizaki. 🔸 While the omakase I had didn't start well, the main segment comprising of a series of sushi was good. It's all about the curing of the fishes done edomae-style, and the dash of the right seasoning to bring out the best in the fish.
