This doesn’t strike me at all as a Peranakan dish, but I can’t say it wasn’t sufficiently tasty to please for a simple family dinner. The duck is cooked to a tender texture, and steeped in sweet-savoury sauce. But given its generous portion of gravy that matches up to that of the Ayam Pongteh, I would recommend the latter that boast easier-to-love flavours.
Chunks of chicken in a flavour bomb of a gravy, which runs dangerously along the lines of being overly salty. But have it with rice, and you’ll be pretty fulfilled by the wholesome chicken dish. Points for the overall large, good for sharing portions at Sayang Sayang Nyonya!
Decent cook on the egg, just a bit too alike the typical fu yong omelette to qualify as a cincaluk-flavoured one!
