One of the most expensive nasi padang I've had. While it tastes not bad, I think it's not worth this price (rice costs $1.20!!!) and unlikely to go back again.
Tuck in the corner of lucky plaza. A very nice nasi Padang stall that serves pretty good curry and chillies. Worth the walk over for a hearty lunch

Now that my office has temporarily moved to Orchard, I spend my lunch breaks exploring the nearby food options. Lucky Plaza is a treasure trove of cheap eats, and Sari Ratu on the 2nd floor dishes up some great nasi padang.
I got daging cincang (beef curry - $4.5) as my main protein, and it was delicious. Tender yet still retaining a firm bite, the chunks of beef are extremely aromatic from having been sat in the bain marie for hours, marinating in its own thick and rich curry. The hockey puck sized begedil ($1.5) was obviously homemade, with chunks of coarsely chopped potato hiding within its smooth mass. What I liked most about the potato cutlet was the slightly chewy and textural coating of fried egg batter around it, something that's not usually found in mass-produced begedils.
However the burning stars of the show really are the spicy, subtly sweet and smoky green and red sambals that came with my sambal egg ($1.5). After the initial fiery shock, their heat lingered in a pleasantly simmering way at the back of the tongue.
