The cake is suuuper soft and dense, and the kaya is surprisingly blue instead of green :O I don't find the kaya taste to be all that strong tbh, it tasted more like an ambiguous sweet filling, but I still liked it nonetheless! I'd probably call it a pandan roll instead of a kaya roll. The filling is pretty substantial in relation to the cake!
I tried the pandan roll from The Hainan Story a while back and the biggest difference would be the price. R&G's roll is REALLY LONG AND THICC 👅💦 while THS's is smaller and shorter oop I guess size does matter because this roll is a lot more affordable for its price. As for the taste, both are similar in terms of the softness and denseness of the cake. THS's kaya is more prominent, but for the price, R&G is the way to go. I can see why they have such long queues because $10 for this long and heavy roll is 👌👌 a very justifiable booty call, now I know to check it out next time!

🦖 would I buy: I'd try the other flavours!
💍 would I marry: ye son
A lot worse than I remember. I loved Rich & Good. This particular Swiss roll was like any from neighbourhood bakeries.
Fluffy and soft swiss roll in chocolate swirls, I’m a bias cake-holic. Before you all claim, “aigoo, kaya is the nicest la!” I love that too but I like how the chocolate is not even sweet at all which made it not cloying, even after my 3rd roll 🌝

This shop serves really old school, fluffy and soft swiss rolls. Each roll is about 30cm in length. My all time favourite has got to be their kaya swiss rolls with very gao kaya fillings. Another favourite would be the mango swiss roll that comes with light cream and fresh mango cubes. It’s also my first time trying their red velvet swiss roll with cream cheese frosting and it turns out not being too sweet which is light on the palette.
Skip the queue and pre-order online (facebook) before heading down to collect. This can also help to avoid disappointment when flavours run out very fast.
