[JB, MALAYSIA] Back to my favourite dim sum restaurant in JB as this is what I crave whenever I'm here. The quality of the dim sum dishes here are excellent and really value for money too!

Gim Cheng boasts a very traditional ambience and they sell a huge variety of dishes, from steamed buns to fried dishes to the classic steamed ones in baskets. I have so many favourites here:

The classic Char Siu Bun here is just outstanding. Full of smoky pork meat, the filling was generous and full of sweet savoury flavours. Pork pieces were tender and I just love how fluffy and sweet the bun is!

Next got to be their steamed bringal, which is nicely coated with a sweet savoury sauce that has alot of garlic. Bringal was cooked nicely with a huge meat filling within!

The steamed prawn balls is also worth a mention, as it was just packed with so much prawn meat that gave it so much flavour. Dip this in some chilli sauce and you got yourself a satisfying bite 😍

There were just too many good dishes to name. However, I think their sweet dishes (except their legendary liu sa bun) are quite forgettable. It's better to just have their liu sa bun as dessert! 😁

[JB, MALAYSIA] This is one dim sum restaurant I don't mind coming back to again and again!

We ordered many different dishes and many of them are spot on. Even the basic siew mai was much better than other places, due to the amount of marinated meat within them. If I had to choose 2 favourites, they have to be the Liu Sha Bao and Char Siew Bao.

The Liu Sha Bao has a thin bao layer and the salted egg custard within was so satisfyingly rich! The Char Siew Bao was equally good, as it was stuffed full of roasted meat that had a nice smokiness. The sauce had a good balance of sweet and savoury too!

The total price paid was RM55.80 for 2 pax, which was really affordable considering the amount we ordered. Can't wait to be back again to try more dishes!

love that you get to walk around and choose dimsum from a few “stations” around the area, while bringing the hard copy paper receipt - they will tick what you’ve ordered on the paper bill

suggestion to come early (opens at 7am) and remember to get a queue number when you arrive! the restaurant is quite big so you won’t have to wait very long

RM6 per serving of Dim sum
Ordered a wide variety of dim sum for our breakfast! Instead of ordering from a push cart or from someone, you have to queue at each station for the food. Stations include steamed, fried and buns. Pls get their mango prawn which is coated with the vermicelli! Highly recommended!

We went to local favourite Dimsum place and totally satisfied with their dim sum. The salted egg bun look ordinary but let me tell ya, it taste heavenly. the skin is soft and chewy and the filling is just right. We wanted to tabao back but it was sold out at 10:30am. Oh, remember to order carrot cake too..
