Early Morning I was looking for Popiah, but they dont have it at around 7am,So I take this Lite breakfast. Coffee is tasty and dont have this after taste, egg and bread perfect match.
Looking forward to have popiah in the opening timing ๐
Look at that huge pool of chili! It wasnโt that spicy if you donโt add in those chili on the spoon. I would say the quality check at the Suntec outlet was not consistent. Smooth laksa gravy but lacking the coconut fragance. One of taupok was so bare and โemptyโ that you can literally stuff noodles in.
No idea why the prawn is smaller in size though. But qiji popiah has never fail me till now. The only thing that this branch have to make improvement on is the cashier. Looks like he is very pissed with his Saturday duty.
Savoury popiah from Qiji- filled with prawns and generous spread of chopped hard boiled eggs, radish strips + prawn paste! Could have added a lot more peanut bits to up the ooomph factor.
$3.50/piece
(+):
- thin and chewy skin
- v generous amount of fillings!!!!
- popiah skin does not turn soggy even after it has been left aside for a few hours
- consistent quality
- Qiji is a halal-certified eatery! which means I can dine here with my Muslim friends hehe
- there are quite a number of Qiji outlets across the island
(-):
- the sweet sauce in the popiah is a little too sweet for my liking; I need to remember to ask for less sweet sauce the next time I get their popiah
- popiah is slightly pricy at $2.30 per roll
rating: 9/10
Love qiji popiahs so much due to the generous fillings, and somehow the skin remains chewy and soft without getting soggy and breaking apart too easily. Their popiahs are more on the sweet side as they are generous with the sweet sauce. Highly recommended!
Different sets of nasi lemak with different sides for you to choose such as chicken wing, otah, sausage or even chicken cutlet. Popiah going at $2 (without prawn) :-) a very simple and budgeted local food yet filling for me.
The service staff must be feeling extra generous today, check out the "mountain" of vegetables on the plate! XL-size Lotong! Lol... yummy stuff, very satisfying.
Who remembers that Qiji used to be a humble food stall called Hock Heng on the top floor of Funan Centre, then at Shaw food gallery? Been having it since childhood days. See the making of the Qiji Popiah! #instavideo
" chee chong fun" at this place. Isnt it toxic to continuosly steam the chee chong fun with the container? ๐ค
I don't know why, but I feel like out of most of the Qiji outlets I've tried, the one at Shaw Towers serves the best popiah! It's sooooo fat and full of ingredients because the serves are really generous and the skin is a lot more springy and fresh than most outlets. And they roll it really tight just the way I like it.
Qiji started off as a humble food stall and has now become a chain restaurant serving authentic Singapore local fare such as Nasi Lemak, Laksa and Popiah. Please read my review at www.hungryghost.sg
