My Little Tapas Bar

Launched in March 2014, My Little Tapas Bar is the new sister outlet to My Little Spanish Place. Taking over the cosy interiors of what used to be Platters Bistro, chef partners Maria Sevillano and Edward Esmero have lifted the space further with light Spanish touches, and a revamped menu. Carrying on the 'meson' concept from My Little Spanish Place, where the Spanish saying "Mi Casa es Su Casa" My House is Your House remains a guiding philosophy, the menu is a selection of both deli favourites from "La Despensa" and Jamon Bar, unique home-style tapas creations, and a wide selection of some of the World's best Spanish wines.

Nice ambience and great service! Ordered six tapas for dinner with husband and it was quite filling. The flavours were quite simple and a little too subtle, e.g. the octopus was served with a piquillo sauce but I could barely taste it, the bikini sandwich was not bad but we couldnā€™t taste the jamon, the prawns (pictured) were just one-note.

Love the laid back ambience though and would visit again to try their paella and other mains. Our server Izzue was really friendly too.

Total cost for six tapas and 2 bottled beers came up to $120+ (including usage of a 1-for-1 tapas deal).

Tapas ordered:
Grilled octopus
Prawns
Ham croquette
Eggplant toast
Bikini sandwich
Meatballs

Pulpo De La Casa (Grilled Octopus) was well grilled and chewy! Do take note the free tapas would have be below $15! Nonetheless, it was a hearty meal with Paella De Marisco!

I actually thought repeatedly about the homemade coca bread with chorizos, I had when I was here with Mum, which made me very determined about a return visit.
Was very glad that the other seafood tapas Iā€™d introduce the rest of the family to for the first time were great Spanish tapas in our metropolitan little red dot.
First was this bulbous stuffed squid that was well handled with some salivating chorizo bechamel; an absolute flavour party on the palate.
The classic grilled octopus tapas was another well handled seafood with a generous large dash of white bean purĆ©e which Iā€™d classify as for the acquired taste. While the eggplant ā€œtoastā€ was outshone by the other tapas, they were comfortingly oily; think straightforward thin slices of the purple fruit with savoury cheese melted atop.

Paella de Marisco - traditional seafood paella. Must say my favourite part is scraping the crispy paella bits, doused with lemon juice and filled with juicy seafood. Together with sangria, endless conversations

Also learnt the difference between a prawn and a shrimp (no. of legs with 3 claws differ) very interesting

I had mixed feelings about this dessert as my friends and I were initially there for another dessert that had been taken off the menu. We were recommended this instead and I like how smooth and consistent the chocolate mousse was; creamy and yet not too sweet. You could also taste the cacao with each bite. I thought that the whipped cream was unnecessary as it didn't actually complement the taste of the chocolate mousse and made the entire dessert a little too sweet.
