On my second visit to Maison Marou, the "Dr. Yersin Eclair" called out to me like the most enticing siren. It was upon these "rocks" of Dalat mulberry and Marou chocolate that I crashed in satisfaction. The fruitiness of the berry component harmonised well with the dark chocolate and light choux pastry.
If you are concerned about being overwhelmed by too much chocolate, this is the dessert you ought to get.

Marou, the international multi-award-winning chocolate brand that originated here in Vietnam, has a large and beautifully charming space which is a must-visit if you are a chocoholic.
This is where you can see the dedicated team at work, and be educated in the process of chocolate-making as well. More importantly, Maison Marou is also a cafe. So you can take a seat and slowly savour their fabulous French-style pastries (all with chocolate included of course) and handmade chocolates. They serve good coffee but it's their signature hot chocolate drinks that is the beverage to get.

If you think this large brioche puffed up by decadently voluptuous piped chocolate looks good, well, wait till you taste it. Those little bits on the top gave the pastry an enjoyable crunchiness too.

A breather and slow down from running after daily life. Not to be missed for chocolate lovers. #throwback

The house’s Signature Marou (iced chocolate) is chocolatey and smooth without being cloyingly sweet as if you’re having molten chocolate (which is quite often the case). At 100VND (S$5.80), it’s SG prices and that’s exorbitant going by local standards. Still, chocolate-lovers would be hard pressed to regret.

Then there’s the Egg Cream (100 VND). Thick, smooth and lightly sweet foam covering the liquid hot chocolate beneath. Great, and would love it more if the hot choc was slightly less sweet.
The streusel-topped chocolate muffin was superb too, with a soft fluffy inside dotted with rich melted chocolate spots here and there. Skip the brownie though, which was like a sugar bar.
