Sweet braided bread with chocolate filling. Instead of streusel, this babka was topped with a generous amount of salted dark chocolate crumbs which was my favorite part of this whole piece of bread. Together with a creamy custard layer, the babka was an amazing balance of sweet and savoury, soft and crunchy. As someone who is not the biggest fan of bread, I could indulge in this any time.

Matcha latte here is not something I would recommend. The drink was thin, milky and lacking in the authentic green tea flavour. It was also not mxed well as there were pieces of matcha powder clumps. I do think Mad Roaster is more known for their fragrant and smooth coffees though — so I would suggest going for that instead.

Had the Chocolate Babka first time at their og Amoy stall and just had to get it again! Would have preferred it to be served a lot more warm, but it tasted as nice - drizzled condensed milk and topped with crunchy crumbs.
At the new outlet of Mad Roaster, that’s housed in the same space as Kipos Gourmet in Joo Chiat. Was super bummed that they were out of matcha during my visit! Had the Honey Butter Latte instead, and while it was pretty smooth, personally found it too sweet at its default sweetness. There’s an option for less sweet, so make sure you opt for that if you prefer.
There wasn’t too long a queue but the orders took quite a while to prepare. Might be due to the how new they are and perhaps trying to get used to the space!
