Ingredients were cooked well and my only complaint was that the peanut werent as fragrant or crunchy as other stalls. The Base had a body, and there was a certain sweetness. Ordered xiaola and it was really manageable, didnt even have to stop to drink water so spice lovers should go ask for more heat. Theres also random ingredients thrown in like a meatball and this super chewy translucent Noodle but i just cant rmb what its called. Overall a really enjoyable meal as i dont like excessive spiciness.

SPICINESS LEVEL: Ordered the spiciest. No peppercorn so it's not numbing. Fragrant. Not oily.

WILL WE RETURN? Of course. This is already our 3rd visit to this stall since June this year. And we don't even stay in the East.
PRICE: $10
(Pricing is mostly reasonable except the instant noodles is charged as $2...which is seriously expensive. Well, they know everyone NEEDS instant noodles in their MLXG so they may as well enjoy a huge profit margin from these cheap yummy junk noodles)
WAITING TIME: 3rd in queue on a Friday night at 10PM. 13 minutes from queuing to receiving order.
SPICINESS LEVEL: Ordered 大辣 this time after previously trying the 中辣 which was incredibly mild. Still didn't find it spicy. But still an enjoyable mala seasoning mix. Not too oily. Wished it was more fragrant and a tad more salty.
REMARKS:
- Pity they ran out of pork belly
- Will not order the pork collar next time (kinda tough)

SPICINESS LEVEL: Ordered medium -- zero kick for me, "spicy" for him. Will have to order 大辣 the next time.
WAITING TIME: A long queue greeted us at 8pm on a Wednesday.
8 minutes to reach the point of choosing ingredients.
Another 10 minutes to collection.
REMARKS:
- Not oily
- No peppercorns
- Fragrant
- Will not order again: Quail eggs (saw the person grab 5 to 6 into our ordering plate but there were only 3 quail eggs in our bowl later)
- Will order again: Pork belly, chicken, mock fish maw, 大白菜
WILL WE RETURN? Yes, when I'm in the East
COMPARED TO RIRIHONG: Not as spicy, fragrant and cheap
Although not quite as challenging as the queues commanded by Michelin-starred hawkers, the one at the much-talked-about “Ma La Hotpot” stall inside Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre is still a test of patience. Especially at dinner time on a weekend. #whatwasithinking.
Regardless, the reward for my long wait to order, followed by another wait for the food to be prepared, resulted in a massive bowl filled with a very fragrant and tasty stirfry of mixed vegetables, “tau pok”, luncheon meat, sliced pork belly and I-can’t-remember-what-else-because-I-just-kept-pointing. The price? $9.50.
Anyway, I liked that the dish was not too oily and every item in my bowl was cooked to its optimum. For example, the radish retained its juiciness and crunch while the “tau pok” was soft enough to soak up the sauce. Considering this was achieved during the mad dinner rush only goes to show how good this stall really is. You can colour me impressed.
