Nestled in the heart of Singapore, Hiryu offers a remarkable culinary experience that captivates from the moment you step inside. The ambience is a harmonious blend of modern elegance and traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring soft lighting and minimalist decor that create an inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect backdrop for a meal centered on fresh, high-quality seafood.

My favourite dish was the toro toro sushi, which exemplifies the restaurant's commitment to freshness and flavour. Each piece is expertly crafted, showcasing the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the tuna, complemented by perfectly seasoned rice. The balance of flavours is truly exceptional.

Hiryu prides itself on its extensive selection of sashimi, with fresh cuts imported multiple times a week. This commitment ensures that diners can enjoy different selections on different days, offering a delightful surprise each visit. The sashimi is vibrant and expertly sliced, allowing the natural flavours of the fish to shine.

Another highlight is the seasonal special handroll, which changes regularly to reflect the best ingredients available. It’s a treat for the senses, combining innovative flavours and textures.

Overall, Hiryu is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience and superb Omakase.

Cha Kee Cafe offers a delightful taste of Hong Kong cuisine in Singapore. With its vintage decor and friendly atmosphere, this cafe is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Hong Kong flavours.
I had the pleasure of trying several of their signature dishes, and each one was a delight. The polo bun was soft and fluffy, with a sweet and buttery filling that was simply irresistible. The Hong Kong milk tea was perfectly balanced, not too sweet and with a subtle tea flavour.
For savory options, I tried the peanut butter toast and the pork chop with scrambled egg rice. The peanut butter toast was a classic comfort food, with a generous amount of creamy peanut butter on a toasted bun. The pork chop was tender and juicy, and the scrambled egg was perfectly cooked.
Finally, I couldn't resist trying the curry fishball and beef tripe. The curry was flavorful and fragrant, and the ingredients were cooked to perfection. The fishballs were bouncy and the beef tripe was tender.
Overall, my experience at Cha Kee Cafe was fantastic. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cosy, and the service was friendly. If you're looking for a taste of Hong Kong in Singapore, I highly recommend checking out Cha Kee Cafe.

Craving a meaty feast? Look no further than Meat n' Chill. This unassuming spot in Singapore offers a satisfying menu that will leave your taste buds craving more.

I recently chanced upon this place and tried their spam fries, steak with sauteed mushrooms and fries, and truffle mac and cheese. The spam fries were crispy on the outside, with a hint of saltiness that perfectly complemented the savoury spam. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with the sauteed mushrooms adding a rich, earthy flavour. And the truffle mac and cheese? It was a creamy, cheesy delight, with the subtle truffle aroma elevating the dish to new heights.
Meat n' Chill is a must-visit if you're a meat lover. Its delicious food, friendly service, and cosy atmosphere make it the perfect spot for a satisfying meal.

Gunther's seasonal set lunch was a wonderful experience that excited the senses with every course.

The Smoked Toretama egg with seared toro and a sweet-sour twist was a perfect start. The creamy egg blended perfectly with the buttery toro, and the sweet-sour flavors added a nice contrast.

The Cold Angel hair pasta with Oscietra caviar and black truffle was amazing. The salty caviar and earthy truffle made the dish truly special.

The Grilled half Maine lobster was rich and delicious, paired with buttery bernaise sauce. The crispy pomme allumette added a nice crunch.

The meal ended with Affineur Anthony’s French farm cheese collection. The goat cheese was creamy and tangy, and the blue cheese had a bold flavor.

Overall, Gunther's seasonal set lunch was a fantastic dining experience. Each course was carefully made, showing the chef's skill. It's a place worth visiting again to try their changing seasonal menu.
