Burpple 1-for-1

10/10 would recommend for the food, ambience and service! Would definitely come back again!

Opted for 1-for-1 on the mains: Dal Makhani and Palak Paneer ($14.90). Great flavour and definitely did not scrimp on the ingredients as every scoop had a heap of lentils / paneer and you could taste the spices as well.

The dishes went really well with just the plain basmati rice and naan (we chose the garlic naan).

Lastly definitely need to commend the server (didn’t manage to get his name) who was very attentive and prompt in serving us, and even when the restaurant got a bit crowded. He was doing everything single-handedly from explaining the burpple deal, ordering, serving (+ topping up our water) and payment. The food came really fast as well.

Tried the 1-for-1 4-course meal ($79.90) on Valentine’s Day which seemed like such a good deal. The service was a bit strange because we got served all courses almost at once (the dessert was served with the appetisers at the start)

Appetisers: this was the best of the whole meal. We had both options of leek soup and bread with dip. Highly recommended!

Sides: calamari and truffled tater tots which were not too bad as well

Mains: tried the famous pork jowl and truffle mushroom pasta. As someone who likes fatty pork, this was a disappointment as it was 90% fat with barely any meat. With the fried sides, this left us with a greasy meal. The standard of pasta is what you would get at any regular pasta place, but overall very salty.

Desserts: we had both options of matcha churros and tiramisu. The churros added to the greasiness of the meal and was very sweet, so was the tiramisu.

Overall we had higher expectations especially with the good reviews on food king. As one of the reviewers also mentioned, it was probably more worth to get the $29.90 per pax 3-course set meal instead.

Super worth with the Burpple Beyond 1-for-1! Went during lunch and had the mushroom risotto, truffle furikake pasta and additional side of stuffed portobello (it was stuffed with even more mushrooms and cheese). It was very filling we were stuffed after that, only paid $20 per person at a place with a lovely ambience!

We didn’t manage to try the cocktails but would definitely want to give it a go as they looked and sounded very interesting!

The pancakes were a little disappointing. It had a cakey texture with a weird after taste. The rest of the dish were okay. This was $22 before the burpple discount, but worth a skip to try other items on the menu instead!

Each element of this was executed quite nicely - crispy tater tots, creamy scrambled eggs and fluffy pancakes. Super huge portion so this could probably be shared between 2 people.

Really loved the texture of the hand-pulled mee Hoon kway. Also really liked that they were very generous with the ingredients eg tofu and veggies, so it wasn’t a bowl of mocked meat. The soup wasn’t the authentic tomyum of course but was still very tasty!

had this before but this was pretty disappointing because it was a little dry with not much depth to it. probably came on a bad day because i remembered this to be a lot nicer. i would say that assembly ground has nice food generally but they can be rather inconsistent at times.

after discount, it was approximately $15 per person? would still patronise with the discount because their pasta portions are quite substantial.

Best comfort food on a rainy day! They were generous with the seafood which were fresh, and went very well with the sweet yet light pumpkin soup. A good balance between sweet and savoury, worth a try especially with the burpple deal!

The Breakfast Works ver.2 $24
This was a HUGE portion but it got a little too salty and oily after awhile. Nothing was exceptional but still a yummy meal. Not worth it without the burpple deal.

Truffle Eggs Prosciutto $22
Loved the truffle eggs - creamy and well-seasoned. It would have been better if more elements were added to the dish because it got a bit too much towards the end.

What stood out was definitely the truffle scrambled eggs and broccoli. The eggs were creamy and had a strong taste of truffle, while the broccoli was well seasoned and crunchy. Was disappointed that they ran out of the tofu bowl that day because I would have much preferred their tofu over the luncheon meat, which was pretty standard.

Worth the price, especially with the burpple discount (~$5.50 per person with the 1-for-1 discount).

The burrata was very creamy and gave the pizza a light touch to it. It complemented the pesto sauce as well which gave the pizza a slightly tangy touch.

The staff were very friendly too and took the initiative to recommend the popular items to us since it was our first time there.
