✨Tonkotsu Mix Ramen (Regular)✨

This is a classic, cannot-go-wrong kind of ramen. If you are not as adventurous as me, go for this option! The tonkotsu broth was creamy and flavourful, definitely the first thing that attracted me to this dish🤣 The thinly-sliced belly chashu makes it easier to chew and pairs really well with the broth! Also, one thing I always look out for in a bowl of ramen is the quality of the eggs. These hanjuku eggs are so soft that you can slurp it up in one go😋

✨Wasabi Mayo Gyoza✨
These gyozas were actually quite soft and chewy, with a slight crispy texture on one side. They were actually quite generous with the filling inside! I only wished that they gave more wasabi mayo sauce as it goes really well with the gyoza🤤

✨Spicy Yuzu Ramen (Regular)✨

At first, when I heard Yuzu ramen, I was quite intrigued🤣 Surprisingly, chilli goes quite well with yuzu! The citrusy taste from the yuzu gives a refreshing feel to the hot spicy taste. Also, another huge favourite from this dish is the onion😍 I usually don’t eat vegetables at all, but this was a treat! It was like a sweet crunchy side dish😋 And to top it off, the collar chashu was so tender. I’m surprised that there are so many different flavours, yet everything blends well together in the creamy soup broth!

✨ Salmon Steak Mentaiko Cream Omurice✨
The cream was a lot thinner than expected. I thought it will be quite thick and milky, but still quite nice as the flavour is not too strong. It is a good pairing with the salmon too. There’s nothing special with the egg, as it was not soft and fluffy like omurice type of eggs, but not bad for this price.

✨ Beef Steak Omurice ✨
This was slightly disappointing as it was quite hyped up. The beef was a little tough to chew, and the egg was not really creamy nor fluffy. It tastes like normal scrambled eggs. The only tasty part about this dish was the pepper steak sauce. It was thick and had a nice pepper taste that helped by adding a lot of flavour to the slightly bland steak.

✨Mabushi Double✨
They were a little stingy with the miso soup, the bowl was smaller than the usual soup bowl size. The rice did not have much sauce, causing it to be a little dry when it reaches the bottom. The unagi is soft, chewy and smoky, which goes really well with the plain rice.

✨Garlic Fried Rice with A5 Wagyu Cubes✨

The garlic taste was a little too strong for me, but it is quite fragrant and smoky. The wagyu cubes were well cooked; chewy yet not too tough. This rice tasted ordinary to me, but it was still a scrumptious meal and we finished every grain of rice😋

✨Sushi Kaidan Set✨
We ordered using the 1-for-1 on Burpple, so the set was fixed for us. It was aburi mentai set and foie gras set. The sushi had a premium taste, as the salmon was soft and melts in your mouth. The rice was less than sushi from other restaurants, hence the salmon to rice ratio made it more enjoyable and worthy😍

The scallop was also a little more special than usual. It isn’t the usual chewy type of scallop, yet it was still really juicy and bursts in your mouth when you take a bite. I also really liked how they only added a tiny bit of sauce to add a tangy flavouring to it, but also ensures that most of the taste still comes from the sushi itself.

The tamago sticks were outstanding. At first, I thought it was just the usual tamago with a slightly charred top and mentaiko sauce, but wow this was much better than I expected! It looks so simple, but you can really feel they try to make it unique, giving it a soft burnt taste like the other aburi sushi in the set.

I’m not a fan of foie gras, but the taste wasn’t too strong nor sandy. The texture is really smooth and easy to chew, but still does not change my opinion about foie gras🤣

✨Aburi Salmon Don✨
The cucumber tasted really raw. Maybe they should have diced it instead and drizzle a little soy sauce on it to fit well with the salmon. The salmon was chewy and slightly seared for a burnt taste. That grilled taste gives a smoky flavour to this refreshing dish. However, the salmon was a little too chewy as it took a few extra bites before swallowing. The vinegared rice was amazing! I love these kind of japanese rice where they soak it with vinegar and soy sauce! It especially blends very well with the uncooked salmon and wasabi on the side👍🏻

✨Salmon Teriyaki Don✨
The salmon was seared and cooked beautifully. It was also slightly drizzled with teriyaki sauce, giving it a little sweet and tangy flavour. The salmon itself was also tender and not dry, despite it being fully cooked. The rice was the same as the previous bowl; moistened with soy and vinegar. Hence, this bowl of rice did not feel dry at all.

💸Total damage for 2 pax: $15 with a drink (because of Burpple!💜)

✨Kei Signature Kaisendon✨
If you prefer the usual chirashi don, you would like this more. It has wasabi and soy sauce on the side for a little spicy kick. The salmon and other sashimi taste really fresh and juicy. Also, usually I’m not a fan of vegetables, but the cucumbers in this doesn’t taste raw at all. I finished all of it😋

✨Mentaiyaki Kaisendon✨
Honestly, this was so good. It is like a chirashi don with mentaiko sauce. If you find the usual chirashi don too plain, this is perfect for you as the sauce gives an extra tangy and creamy taste to it.

✨Miso Rosu Katsu Set✨
The pork is crispy with every bite, even with sauce drizzled on it. The miso sauce overpowers the pork, hence couldn’t really enjoy the meat itself. However, the miso soup is amazing even on its own. I recommend taking one spoonful of rice and dipping it into the miso soup. You can really taste that it’s not the basic miso soup you can find everywhere else.
