Hawker Eats × Fish Soup 鱼汤 🐟
A generous portion of fish slices with tofu and vegetables in clear soup. The fish soup is clear and light in flavour. The fish slices were fresh, thick and chunky but a little overcooked hence the fish meat is not as soft/smooth. There's always a long queue at this stall so it's best to go early and beat the crowd 》$5.50
A hidden gem in the Ubi industrial area serving tender and flavourful fish soup. My order of sliced fish soup came with a generous amount of sliced fish and cabbage, topped with fried egg floss and shallots. The fish slices were fresh, bouncy and tender in texture, accompanied well by a sweet and flavourful broth made from fish bones and dried sole fish. I also added their fish roe and prawn paste balls to try. I like how the fish roe added a crunchy texture to it. Be prepared to queue for at least 30 minutes even when it’s past lunch hour on a weekend 》$7.50 / Large + $1.50 (2pcs Fish Roe Prawn Paste Ball)
Thick-cut slices of Batang (Spanish mackerel) served in a light and clear soup with tofu and vegetables. The fish slices were fresh, firm, smooth and tender while the soup has a clean taste (not bland) with some hints of sweetness from the fish and vegetables. They are very generous with their servings and they also serve braised dishes as sides to go along with the fish soup. It was simply a healthy and satisfying meal 😍 》$6 (Fish Soup) + $5 (Braised Pig Skin, Pig Trotter, Tau Pok) + $0.50 Rice
Their porridge pot comes with a choice of batang, garoupa or pomfret with batang ranges from $6 (small), $12 (medium) and $20 (large) but we decided to go for the medium garoupa porridge pot that is sufficient to feed 3 pax.
The broth of the porridge is creamy and milky with robust flavours. The fish slices were fresh and sliced to a decent thickness while not forgetting how they were quite generous with the amount of fish that goes into the pot 》$30 / Medium
The milky broth doused with a little bit of alcohol is thick, milky and addictive. It covers some thick bee hoon that is topped with thick and generous amounts of mildly crispy fish that are fried to a nice brown colour with the right texture. It was a 30mins wait on a weekday dinner but it's oh so worth the queue just for it 》$6

The ingredients served in this bowl of fish soup are very fresh and they are generous with the serving of fish slices. There were plenty of fresh, thick and tender slices of fish with lots of greens, tomatoes and seaweed. The soup is seasoned with dried sole fish that adds flavour to the clear and light soup. They also serve preserved vegetables and some braised dishes as sides.
The queue can look long and intimidating but it is totally worth queuing for. The old folks have been serving for years and it's time for them to retire. Their last day of operation is on 15 Jan 2022 so give it a try if you have yet to do so!
Salmon in a rich and clear broth. The broth is light and robust with hints of saltiness. The fishes were thickly sliced, tender and succulent. Not to mention how generous they are with the portion. This portion is good enough to feed 2pax 》$10
Fish Soup | #01-07
I kept coming back here despite the long queue because they serve really fresh and good fish soup. It is one of the places I would think of whenever I am craving fish soup or wanting to have something hot in cold weather.
The fishes here are very fresh and succulent. The soup is light and flavourful with some hints of sweetness and saltiness in it. They are very generous with the amount of fish and other ingredients they throw into the bowl. We ordered a bigger portion to share among the two of us and it was sufficient to fill both bellies 》$10 + $0.50 Minced Pork + $0.50 Bitter Gourd
This has been here for years and it is still as good as what I remembered. The fish is fresh and tender in texture and the soup has a clean sweet and savoury flavour. A very comforting bowl especially on cold and chilly day 》$4 + $3 Fish Curd
Lee Kwang Kee Fish Soup | #01-38
A simple and comforting bowl of sliced fish, lettuce and seaweed in clear soup. The batang fish is fresh and the clear soup is light, sweet and flavourful. I like that they added dried sole fish in their soup which added some taste and fragrance to it. I prefer the clear soup with rice as the noodles change the soup with a strong and overpowering taste 》$10.30
Fresh, thick and succulent slices of mackerel, tang o, thin slices of ginger and garnished with fried shallots in a soup full of sweetness and goodness. One of the few places I would think of should I crave for a bowl of sliced fish soup. There's always a queue so be prepared to brave the heat for this worthwhile bowl of fish soup. We added minced pork and we definitely made the right choice. Another thing I liked was their salted fermented soy bean (tau cheo) chili dip 》$10/large + $0.50 Minced Pork + $0.50 Rice
Fresh and firm slices of fish in a comforting and flavourful soup that carries the natural sweetness of fish and vegetables. The sliced fish was smooth and tender while the fried fish was done just right, with the skin not being overly thick 》$8.80

I'm in a relationship with food. Why can't we just declare our never ending love and vows towards some food item? I'm sure that would not result in divorces.
