Buangkok residents can now escape the sweltering heat at this new hipster gelato spot in Hougang Green Shopping Mall! With it's flashy neon lights and unique gelato flavours, be sure to add on Waffles for $5 to go along with a single scoop ($3.90) of Hojicha, Caramel Popcorn and White Chrysanthemum & Goji Berries. Burppler Xing Wei Chua sang high praises for the Milo Dinosaur, which was "sufficiently rich without biting the throat given the “heatiness” of Milo and just sweet enough without being cloying."

Place was crowded as I went on a fri night! Got the matcha and dirty chai and both were great 🙂 Burpple 1 for 1 is rlly worth as each scoop now is only $1.90!!! The service crew are super friendly too and helped me retrieved my change which I dropped on the floor. Would really go back again soon!

Came across Playgelato at Midpoint orchard, friendly service and great variety of gelato flavours affordable price. 👍

Never thought that there will be a cafe hidden within Sim Lim Square, but this cafe is rather promising indeed. The cakes are pretty good and comes in a rather generous slice. The Earl Grey Lavender ($8.50) has a good hint of Earl Grey and lavender tea flavours that makes it really aromatic. The chocolate crunch ($8.50) had mini chocolate balls in it that were satisfying with the chocolate cake!

We had both the Mocha and Hazelnut Latte ($6.50 each) and they were aromatic too! Maybe just abit too sweet.

Perhaps the downside of place I feel is that everyone is SOOOO quiet and I'm quite a loud person... But other than that there's #burpplebeyond!

While scrolling through my Burpple Beyond deals at Vivo City, I saw Kele Roll Cake and decided to give it a try since it's only $10.90 for 2 special roll cakes!

As a huge fan of tropical fruits, I decided to get the mango cream cheese roll cake. The cake was so soft and light, and the cream cheese was smooth. I absolutely loved the juicy mango in the core of the cake. It was super fragrant as well. Overall, the sweetness of the roll cake was just right for me.

I also tried the 🍓 Strawberry Cream Cheese Roll Cake but I wasn't a big fan of that flavour. Honestly speaking, even when my Burpple Beyond membership expires, I see myself returning to buy their Mango Cream Cheese Roll Cake again at its original price.

There has been much talk about Threepointtwo at Kampong Bahru over the past week — most having mentioned their waffles and ice-cream given how they are the new ice-cream parlour which had recently opened in the neighbourhood, which has interestingly seen a rising of cafes of the late (think at3, Kream & Kensho etc. along the same stretch).

Opened by the same folks behind Pangzi Durian in Jurong West, the Durian Mousse is one of the items I would actually recommend one to go for as well. Having tried Pangzi Durian on one of the rare trips I had made to Jurong West, I liked how their Durian Mousse is pretty rich with pungent with the distinct notes of the king of fruits. The mousse itself is sufficiently creamy, but it’s the additional shots of D24 here that takes the cake — a generous scoop of fibrous D24 flesh that is not to be missed by durian lovers that gives the mousse that buttery sweetness amidst the pungent notes. And if a single shot isn’t enough, one can also request for a double shot to be added — just like how one can do the same to their cuppa at a specialty coffee joint.

While the ice-creams are decent in flavour here and that the waffle is actually pretty plush and wafts of an alluring hint of buttermilk fragrance, I am more inclined to give the durian desserts and cream puff items a go instead — the Earl Grey Puffs reminds me of the good ol days of Neato.100 and Shuu Choux; the combination of crisp and light choux pastries of the latter and that aptly creamy filling carrying an intense tea aroma of the former during its prime at Burlington Square. And did I mention one can also try Butternut’s thin-crust pizzas here without making the trek to the far West of Taman Jurong? A destination worth considering for hipsters who want a little bit of everything all under one roof; from hot (snack) food, to ice-cream, specialty coffee and durian desserts — and one that is relatively centralised as well.

Boy I can’t wait for a return to @clapcafe.sg. The last time I was there, I got myself the sticky date cake ($12 nett) which wasn’t homemade but is definitely delectable. The cake dough itself isn’t sticky, but the caramel seductively drizzled all over makes it sweet & sticky. The cake itself was moist & delightfully dense, and reinforced with the faint fragrance of cinnamon. And of course vanilla ice cream & whipped cream really sweeten this already delightful deal.

Next time, I’ll be over to clap their house made pastries. Their maple pecan tart looks like a tantalising choice, and so does their ravishing red velvet cake. Now that’s worth clapping for.
