Got the Waffle Ice Cream with chocolate fudge ($8.80).
The waffle tasted weird. It had a plastic(?) taste to it. The ice cream is the regular ice cream that is served in the root beer float. Chocolate fudge was the only thing ok in the waffle. Hopefully someone will follow up with the quality of the food..
Got the Pandan Kaya Maru ($2.20) and Chocolate Fudge Maru ($2.30).
The batter of the Pandan Kaya had a strong, not so nice egg taste. The Pandan Kaya filing was sweet but could use a stronger Pandan taste. Didn't finish it at all as I dislike it.
Chocolate fudge was much better than the Pandan Kaya. The chocolate helped make the pancake more edible. The batter did not have a strong egg taste like the Pandan kaya. The sweetness of the chocolate was around a milk chocolate level.
Overall I wouldn't recommend their Maru.
Been craving for waffles so decided to try the ones here.
Got the plain waffle. Waffles were piping hot and thick. I like how the waffles are thicker than what you usually get elsewhere. It tasted not bad and the sweetness level was just nice. The only complaint I have is the low quality paper bag that they use. It has a certain smell which gets transferred to the waffles.
Came around 1pm and there was a queue. When it was our turn the waitress took our order first while waiting for a table to clear, which is good as it helps reduce the waiting time for the food.
Ordered the Millefeuille Pancake 4 Pieces ($7.90). Pancakes were soft, light, slightly eggy and fluffy. Similar to souffle pancakes. Topped with butter and cream. They also provide maple syrup at the side so you can pour as much as you like.
Strawberry and Mixed Berry Pancake 2 Pieces ($11.90)- Tangy strawberry, mixed berries and rich Hokkaido cream complement each other perfectly. Pancakes were also fluffy. The acidity of the berries really help to balance the sweetness of the cream.
Also added a drink set (+$3.50) which are applicable to all drink $4.50 and below. Got the coke and the coke was served in a glass without much effervescent.
Overall a good place for souffle-like pancakes.
This place offers Traditional Pancakes (Mee Jian Kueh, MJK), Munchi Pancakes and Mini Pancakes.
The MJK ($1.30 for coconut, red bean and peanut butter. $1.60 for sesame) was slightly fragrant and chewy. The coconut and peanut butter filings were like what you usually get.
Now onto the Munchi Pancakes ($1.30 for classic flavour and $1.80 for the premium ones). What I really like is the filling options. I had the Thai Milk Tea and Cream Cheese option. Thai Milk tea was fragrant and sweet, just like the drink itself. Cream cheese was my preferred flavour. It was a sweetened cream cheese which complemented the pancake really well.
Overall I would recommend the Munchi Pancakes or you can get the mini pancakes (6 for $4 for classic and 6 for $5 for the premium ones) if you want to try more flavours as it is more interesting.
