Dropped by Omotรฉ before an interview and adored their lovely ambience and the amazing, affordable chirashi! Unfortunately, the Tokyo Gyu Don ($13.80) paled in comparison to the outstanding chirashi. Although the beef was tender and flavourful, it was on the saltier side, and the rice was also soaked in soya sauce which made the whole thing a salt fest. The egg, however, was done perfectly with a gorgeous flowy yolk. Nonetheless, coming to Omotรฉ should mean instinctively sticking to their chirashi dons, which is rightfully what they are known for.

went to try the dons from the newly-opened @kushiboysg ๐โจ josh got the ๐ท ๐๐ค๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐จ๐ช ๐ฟ๐ค๐ฃ [$14.9] while i got the ๐ฃ ๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ ๐ฟ๐ค๐ฃ [$10.9]
the quality of the food was up to standard and i liked the simplicity of the menu! my grilled unagi had a nice touch of smokiness, complemented by the sweetness from the accompanying glaze. my only gripe is that the portion of the mini bowls is a bit too small for its price ($10.9 is a bit much for a meal in a soup bowl) ๐ i finished it in a few mouthfuls... so the moral of the story is to just pay $4 more for the decently sized bowl ๐๐ป

i donโt think iโve ever found another place that sells quality japanese food at such a good price before! i had the ๐๐๐ฏ๐ค๐ ๐ช ๐ฟ๐ค๐ฃ [$12.9] โ the portion was great, and the sashimi was fresh too! each slice was not exactly the thickest but reasonably thick for its price point ๐๐ป however, kazoku shares a common space with other stalls as well, so the area can get pretty crowded and loud, but it shouldnโt be too much of an issue.

pretty decent dons. worth it with burrple beyond. i got the lecoq chirashi, which came with a good portion of sashimi ๐

pretty good price for a filling meal :) the tomato sauce got a bit overwhelming but once mixed properly into the fried noodles it gave a nice pop of flavour
got the bara chirashi for only $10, and the rest were 1 for 1 with burpple beyond! spent about $30 for 5 people! and the dons were also of good quality, being served with large chunks of sashimi atop sticky sushi rice with a distinct vinegar taste

You have to believe me when I tell you that the ๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ค๐ฃ [$10.2] kind of BLEW MY MIND at how many egg elements were in itโฆ esp for an egg lover like me ๐ for its price point, I think itโs crazy how much fish roe they added on top of quite a large portion of udon, and the tempura flakes were just the extra crunch I needed. The texture of the udon was also really chewy! The only downside I recall was that the combination of all the eggs got a little bit too salty at one point but heyโฆ Iโm not complaining

I've been seeing this everywhere on my Instagam and when I finally saw it on Westgate's directory, I told myself there was NO WAY I was leaving without trying some. Honestly, it's pretty worth it for the price point. The noodles were pretty al dente and the portion was super generous too. My favourite part of the dish was the broth, that was rich and flavourful with a pronounced tonkotsu taste, and I feel that it's one of the best broths you can get, especially for this price. In fact, my friend even remarked that it tasted like Ippudo despite being less than half Ippudo's price point (even though I felt that, despite its merits, it did not taste like Ippudo...) As @cafehoppingkids wrote in their caption, at this price point, it all depends on personal preferences. I felt that the charsiu was pretty dry and slightly tough as I prefer fattier cuts that joints like Sล Ramen offer, but the broth was definitely more commendable than Ato Mein's attempt. All in all, I feel that this place is worth a try!

๐ดRoasted Wagyu Beef Don ($15)

I am IN LOVE with this place! First of all, the presentation is simply gorgeous. With a beautiful pale pink colour, the roasted wagyu beef was peppery, flavourful and incredibly juicy, with a great mouthfeel and texture. Although the rice : beef ratio was a little disproportionate, with more rice than beef, the portions of beef and rice were still extremely generous and filled me up sufficiently. Also can we talk about the egg! Literally #eggpornโฆ I audibly gasped when I poked the egg because the yolk flowed out so perfectly I doubt Iโve seen anything sexier in my life. With the friendly service and amazing ambience, Iโll definitely be coming back, since itโs also on #burpplebeyond! Pro-tip: since the space is a little small and it can be quite crowded with the lunch and dinnertime crowds, do make a reservation before you come down!

only $13 for this bowl of well cooked ramen in a relatively light chicken broth :) great for if youโre not too hungry but want to have a substantial meal
