Honestly, it tasted like classic Campbell’s with a drizzle of truffle oil to fancy it up. What saved it was the garlic bread, toasty on the outside, fluffy inside, and generously slathered with a strong, aromatic garlic spread.
The portion was huge, hearty, and generous. The grilled chicken was thick-cut, tender and succulent, bursting with smoky flavour in every bite. The rich, umami mushroom gravy took it to the next level. The crispy fried fish was served piping hot that I nearly scalded myself with the first bite. Inside, it was soft, smooth, and melty; outside, a thin, crisp layer of breaded crumb gave it a tastisfying crunch. Paired with tartar sauce on the side, it was a fully tastisfying combo.
The set also came with two sides of your choice from the nine available options. I don’t know what happened that day, but my mouth just blurted out CARBS AND MORE CARBS, so here we are with Japanese Curry Rice and Mac & Cheese. The curry rice featured a bowl of fluffy, fragrant white rice plated alongside the mains, then drenched in thick, flavourful Japanese curry sauce. As for the mac and cheese, it was soft and chewy with a standard nacho cheese mix, slightly tangy and generously portioned. No regrets on the carb bomb.
Neighbourhood Western Grill in Yishun open till 2am !?
Bradley’s Grill is a newly opened, humble stall in a coffeeshop, serving Western food with restaurant-quality standards at affordable prices. They have been operating for the past two months and have quietly gained a following among nearby residents.
I was glad to finally visit after spotting their posts on social media. While they used to open during lunch hours, they have recently shifted to a later schedule, now starting at 3 pm. Closed every Wednesday, so plan ahead! For the latest updates, check out their socials at @bradleys_grill .
After scanning the menu, I couldn’t decide, everything looked too good. So I went with the best of both worlds, Grilled Chicken Chop & Crispy Fried Fish ($12.90). The portion was huge, hearty, and generous. The grilled chicken was thick-cut, tender and succulent, bursting with smoky flavour in every bite. Also got myself a comforting bowl of Truffle Mushroom Soup ($3.90). Honestly, it tasted like classic Campbell’s with a drizzle of truffle oil to fancy it up. What saved it was the garlic bread, toasty on the outside, fluffy inside, and generously slathered with a strong, aromatic garlic spread.
Best part is, I get to put my CDC voucher to good use!

Recently, this place has been gaining popularity for its huge serving of British Fish & Chips ($8.80), so I decided to head down and give it a try. 🐼🐝
Woah! It’s really damn big! The set comes with a large piece of fish, a lemon wedge, fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. The light-to-medium batter was smooth and super crispy, each bite delivered a tastisfying crunch. The piping hot fish didn’t disappoint either, it was slightly moist, soft, and succulent. The flavour was clean and lightly savoury, and best of all, it wasn’t greasy.
The fries were hot, crispy, and lightly salted, while the coleslaw had a standard sweet, savoury, and mildly tangy taste. Overall, it was delicious, but be prepared for a long wait time of at least 30 minutes.

If you can’t find what you want on the menu, you can DIY your own rosti to match your preferences. My friend chose oven-roasted chicken 1/2 (+$3.50) and oven-roasted potato (+$1). The 1/2 chicken portion was large, with crispy skin and a meaty bite, but it was somewhat dry and would benefit from a sauce to add moisture. The oven-roasted potato was soft yet crunchy, contrasting nicely with the soft, mushy texture of the rosti. Believe me, the taste of potatoes changes significantly depending on how they're cooked or cut, making this a good addition for potato lover.
Fluffy, crisp potatoes topped with smoked pork cervelat, a fried egg, and caramelised onions. The thick, fat, and juicy sausage made from pork, beef, and various seasonings was flavourful, though slightly salty. The sweetness of the caramelised onions provided a good balance to the sausage's saltiness.
Swiss smoked bacon and creamy sautéed mushrooms are generously served over a base of hand-grated, fluffy, crisp potatoes. The rosti was soft and lightly mushy inside, with a crisp exterior. The thicker potato shreds provided a more tastisfying texture. The smoked bacon is a must-try. It's a thick, juicy, chewy slab of bacon with a fantastic smoky flavour, not the thin, crispy type. It pairs wonderfully with the rosti. The creamy sautéed mushrooms were another highlight, offering an earthy, rustic bite with creaminess that wasn't overpowering.

Only Legends Will Know This Place.🫡⚓️
Tucked away at the far east side of Singapore, this spot looks like a resort but isn’t one, located where you can enjoy sunshine, a refreshing sea breeze, nature, and even some ship-watching. In front, you have a serene seaside view with gentle waves lapping against the barricade wall, stretching into the horizon under a clear, sunny sky. Behind, there's a humble mess (or canteen), shaded and air-conditioned, offering food to the many hungry visitors. You could say this place is so "hidden" that only those in the know would come here. To be honest, if you didn’t have business nearby, you probably wouldn’t visit even if the food was free, but if you ever get the chance, it's worth trying the food.🤣
That day, craving some Western food, I ordered their Chicken Chop ($6.50), one of their most popular dishes alongside their Sambal Fried Rice. The chicken chop comes in classic old-school style, succulent chicken thigh drizzled with black pepper sauce, served with baked beans, homemade coleslaw, crinkle fries, and garlic bread. While the chicken was juicy and tender, the skin was semi-charred, though still crispy but got the burnt taste. The black pepper sauce did help masked the burnt flavour a bit and also added a nostalgic kick, like the taste of the old days. Baked beans were a true classic for such Western dishes. The homemade coleslaw was chilled, mildly sweet, and crunchy. The crinkle fries were crispy, though a bit greasy, and the seasoning can be hit-or-miss. As for the garlic bread, it was crispy and fragrant but quite hard and tough to bite into.
So, why do so many people come back for this? It's partly because this is the only stall in the area serving Western food, and partly for the memories. It's not the best chicken chop, but in such a remote location, it's certainly satisfying when you’re craving it. Sometimes, we eat for survival or nostalgia, not because the food is perfect. While the chicken chop was passable to me, the experience was more about reliving the memories.
If you ever visit this canteen (open weekdays only), located next to the Singapore Navy Museum, I’d also recommend trying their Fried Rice, Top Shell, Thai-Style Beancurd, Chicken Wings, and the almost extinct legendary Commando Fries.
Commando Fries are rare to find these days. The recipe varies, but the common version includes thick crinkle fries cooked with sausages, onions, ikan bilis, and a homemade sambal chili sauce that’s spicy and sweet-savoury.
Guess I’ll be back next year for another visit. XD

One of the better burger out there. The burger is made up of thick and juicy double beef patties, caramelised onion, melty cheese and house sauce. The set also comes with thick cut fries. One bite and you will feel the tender umami explosion. Having tried their pasta and pizza in the past, I can say that this burger surpasses them all in terms of taste and satisfaction. The rest were just subpar.

150g of savoury, juicy snail pork sausage accompanied by a hearty serving of thick, shredded potato rosti, topped with a sunny side up egg, a dollop of chilled sour cream, and a generous scoop of creamy mushroom sauce.
The rosti boasts a contrast of textures, with a slightly charred crispness on the outside and a soft, mushy interior. However, the seasoning seemed to play favourites, with some parts being a touch too salty while others leaned towards blandness.
The cold sour cream, while not overly flavourful, does a decent job of cutting through the richness of the rosti, adding a refreshing touch. On the other hand, the creamy mushroom sauce won my heart with its wholesome flavour, complementing the dish beautifully.
Though the sunny side up egg sports a beautiful yolk glow, it falls short of the desired runniness. Nevertheless, the smoky pork sausage comes to the rescue, infusing the bites with a burst of flavour, especially where the rosti may lack.

This massive brioche burger bun houses a beef patty, cheddar cheese, green coral, tomato, pickled gherkins, all served with cheese sauce and straight-cut fries. The burger impresses with its size, and the patty lives up to its "juicy" name. The overall composition is neat and tasteful.
