No matter how the company manages the cash flow and expenditure, it’s all history and in the past. What we need to do is to look ahead on how we can preserve one of our iconic foods and brands that has helped put Singapore in the world map, inviting throngs of tourists into our sunny island and making bak kut teh as a must-eat dish before they leave the country. Coincidentally, I had bak kut teh from Rong Hua over the weekends and though it’s decent, the peppery kick and tenderness of the pork ribs pale into comparison with the one that’s making the headlines.

Surprise find. Instead of heavy and jelak, this curry was pleasant and refreshing. That's mainly due to its tomato base. This dish also hinged on the beancurd, which did not disappoint. On a sidenote, this restaurant also has a disastrous waiter. With a curt attitude, you'd think he's in control, yet he had to check table numbers for every dish he served, constantly disturbing diners and serving wrong dishes.

Menu on Burpple Beyond has not been updated – Beef Teriyaki has been replaced by Beef Chilli Cheese. We ordered Smoked Chicken & Turkey Bacon and Cheese. Wait time was approx 5-10 mins and the sandwiches are really nice! Perfect as a snack. Think fluffy runny eggs, mayonnaise, fluffy buttered toasted bread and grilled turkey bacon/shredded grilled chicken. 😋

Note: Eating it might become a messy affair though since the sandwich is kinda overflowing 🤡

I went on a Monday night so there wasn't much of a crowd, great for the kiasi me in these covid times. My friend and I ordered battered snappers each and the portion was HUGE. However, we made a mistake because we didn't know it was fried and wanted to change our order. Thankfully, the restaurant was understanding and allowed us to change! Very very thankful! We then changed one of the snappers to miso salmon carbonara. Both food was soooooo good. Will come back again!

we got the laksa prawns spaghetti. disclaimer: the menu makes everything look more savoury and larger in proportion than it actually is. as for the flavour of the laksa itself, it was pretty good and authentic to the original that you’d get at hawkers. didn’t rly seem that much of a “fusion” dish, just looked like a dry version of your regular laksa made with pasta instead. the biggest disappointment were the toppings - ESPECIALLY THE EGGS. i guess i just expected more incorporation of western flavours and spices. but it’s a tasty dish nonetheless!

We ordered the salmon mentaiko don ($18) & sakura ebi pasta ($18) which were better than we had expected!

The salmon mentaiko don was a fairly big portion- w a generous serving of rice & salmon sashimi! Mentaiko was seared nicely & there was also a heap of fish roe which complemented everything nicely.

The sakura ebi pasta was a rather small portion but w 2 big prawns! Felt v zichar (fried vermicelli) and the noodles had wokhey which was a nice touch.

After Burpple 1-1, I would say this was beyond worh it! I was rly impressed. Service was amazing too- halfway thru the meal, a fly decided to have a taste of our salmon mentaiko don & when we called the waitress for help, she immediately took the bowl & replaced it for a new portion (w/o us even asking!).

We stayed for drinks after our meal and had some bar bites (wasn’t anything amazing but was okay). Drinks were priced vv affordably & ambience was nice. Overall, I would really recommend!
