Made a visit to Mukjja; a relatively new F&B establishment at Novena Regency serving up Korean-Chinese fare; they also do have several Sweet & Sour Pork Sets such as the Set A which we have opted for — all of the sets are being catered for two to three pax.

Despite being the most affordable set at S$40 before service charge, the portion sizes for this set is surprisingly filling — mostly attributed to the Sweet & Sour Pork that came in a pretty generous serving despite being the “small” portion they offer on their regular menu. That being said, we felt that both noodles were actually pretty decent — the Noodle with Black Bean Sauce (i.e. Jjajangmyeon) comes with ample caramelised black bean sauce; carried a mellow sweetness amidst the savoury notes, with bits of minced meat for a good chew, all tossed with the slurpy noodles that carried a bite and is a variant that would work well for those who prefer their Jjajangmyeon a little less sweet overall. The Spicy Seafood Noodle (i.e. Jjampong) also delivered in terms of execution; the same noodles served in a spicy soup that provided sufficient kick for those with a moderate tolerance to spiciness; all that while coming with a mix of vegetables for a good crunch — only qualm was the limited variety of seafood served here which seems to be mainly squid(?). A pretty decent option worth considering for Korean food at Novena.

It was yet another dining option for the shoppers and office workers of Novena Square, as Song Fa Bak Kut Teh made the best no-frill Pork Ribs Soup (S$9.80 for Large) available in the Novena area. The large portion came with five pieces of tender pork ribs, good for those who wanted more meat to the meal, and still spend less than getting their Premium Loin Ribs.

If the dinner was not hearty enough for you for any reason, do ask the staff to refill the soup bowl with their rich peppery soup to your heart’s content. This brought so much warmth especially on a rainy day.

This has a satisfactory coconut taste and crunch, but I found it too sweet and too fluorescently yellow. The slightly hard crust pairs better with the smooth custard of the egg tart than with the firm cake-like crumbly texture of this coconut tart.

Nice hidden place for fresh cuts of sashimi! Their lunch sets come with a nice compact bowl of Chirashi Don, Chawanmushi and miso soup. The Chirashi Don was pretty good and reasonable for its price, with fresh slices of salmon, tuna, swordfish, mekajiki, shrimp, prawn, scallop, tamagoyaki and even a small slab of unagi! 🤤🤤 Chawanmushi was simple but well done, with ingredients like unagi, chicken and crab stick within. The miso soup was authentic, and even came with a prawn head! A little on the pricey side but pretty worth the price with great service (food came within 5-10 min so 👍🏻 for efficiency!) 👍🏻👍🏻

They take the location of the previous super famous wee name kee chicken rice opposite the novena church. Price is slightly higher than of wee nam kee. They have good chicken, chili and sauces. Quite good! But ofcourse cant compare to Wee Nam Kee!

Wah, their dishes did not disappoint! 🤤🤤 ⁣

Feat their Prawns Claypot Vermicelli ($18.90), fried chicken wings w herbs ($14.90) and their Thai prawn cake (2 pcs for $7.80) ⁣

Though their prices is slightly on the higher side, their portions certainly made up for it. I love their Thai prawn cake and chicken wings, both so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. 👍🏻👍🏻 ⁣

Located at Boon Lay food village people were still queueing at 11pm to get their nasi lemak fix. Ordered the standard chicken wing set that came with chicken wing, ikan bilis&peanuts, fried egg and sambal. The rice was quite fragrant but nothing to shout about and the egg was just a standard fried egg. The ikan bilis and peanuts added a crunchy texture to entire dish which was nice and not too greasy. The sambal was on the sweeter side?? but still had a slight spicy kick at the end but I would’ve preferred a spicier sambal. The hero for me was the chicken wing still super crispy and tender when you bite into it, something i didn’t expect of a nasi lemak stall especially at 11pm.

Small Prawn Noodles with pork Ribs : $5.50

Fish n chips ($18++)

Fish was nicely breaded. The deep fried barramundi has a nice taste and bite, unlike cheap dory in other places. Coleslaw was nice as well. The fries are fried with duck fat.. crispy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside. Fries could be saltier but it still tasted great with the tartar sauce and chilli sauce (ask for it!!)

One of the best fish n chips in Sg!

On my first visit, I tried the shrimp paste non spicy flat noodle soup ($12.80++). I thought the flat noodle will be like banmian, but nope it was really flattt, it is like meeheonkway but slim and flat and in a long flat piece. Comparing this shrimp ball and that from Le shrimp Ramen, the latter is more fragrant and has tobiko to spice things up. There was alottt of veg (but wasted on someone here who doesn't eat a single piece of veg 🤭). I will be back again to try the spicy soup and the rice dishes! #burpple #hulurukmyeonhouse #novenasquare #korean #koreanfood #food #foodiesg #sgfoodie #whati8today #8dayseat #vscofoodie #iweeklyfood #foodporn #foodstagram #vscofood #foodphotography #sgmakan #sgmakandiary #sgfoodstagram #singaporeeats #exploresingaporeeats #exploresg #whatsgoodhere #sgfoodie

Save this skewer kiosk housed in Square 2 for the next time you're feeling peckish around Novena. This unassuming hole-in-a-wall serves up juicy, grilled-to-order Sichuan-style skewers. Popular picks are the super juicy Lamb Skewers ($5.40 for 3 sticks) and the tender Chicken Skewers ($4.50 for 3 sticks). Spice levels are customisable as well, so ask for more/less spicy seasoning accordingly!

Decided to try their signature chopped lechon rice meal set, come with drink.
Verdict : regret, I should order half kg 😆.
The pork so tender with the amount of perfect fat and the skin very crispy.
Served with 2 different dipping sauce. But I like to eat it without any sauce. It’s already tasty 😋.
Definitely will return for 1/2 kg 😋.
💰$10.
