Having seen this egg tart often appear on social media, I tried it twice, once when it was hot out of the oven, and once when it had cooled down. I preferred the latter one more. The custard is pale yellow on the inside with a soft wobbly texture, and it needs the firmness of the cooled crust to support it. The crust is the buttery cookie type. It’s a delicious egg tart and I can see why it’s so popular, though I would prefer the custard to be less sweet and the crust to be less thick.

If you go too early, they won’t have made it yet, and if you go too late, it’s sold out. I’ve had the best luck in the early afternoon at about 1-2pm. A quick way to see if it’s in stock is to check if it’s available to buy on GrabFood.

Honestly, this didn’t impress me. I think the hype around Munchi Delights is due to its easy availability for delivery on online platforms, and its interesting flavours. However the pancake dough itself is mediocre, and doesn’t have the fragrance or texture of, say, Granny’s Pancake. I usually am delighted to get this part of the pancake where you get a mix of soft dough and crisp crust, but this crust was tough and chewy, not crisp at all.

Although there are supposed to be a variety of skin flavours and a variety of fillings, when I went there was only the original skin and 3 types of fillings available. The lotus biscoff filling is nice but really, you could just buy the jar of biscoff spread.

Overall, it’s an average pancake. It’s ok if you want a pancake and this is the closest you have, but I wouldn’t travel for it.

The dough of this pancake is interesting. It’s made in a different way using a starter dough, and the result is a gummy kueh-like texture. Some people think it’s undercooked, but personally I liked it, and felt it went well with the crunchy, sweet peanut filling.

Do note that the waiting time can be long, as the elderly couple make each large pancake one at a time, and there’s a long waiting time between each large pancake. At 8.30am on a weekday, there were about 10 people ahead of me in the queue and I waited 50min.

Someone warned me to bring a spoon. It was a good suggestion. The peanut crumbs fell out of the pancake easily and without the spoon I would have quickly gotten into a sticky mess.

The dough is soft and chewy, and not too thick. The dough-to-filling ratio is just nice, with plenty of filling but not too much. The pancake itself isn’t very large, which is good as you don’t feel like you’re overeating. The coconut filling is just sweet enough. Overall I really liked this.

You get a choice of coconut or pancake fillings, and either a traditional or crispy pancake. I chose the traditional coconut pancake. It came piping hot. I really liked the pancake dough, which was thin and crisp at the edge, and soft and chewy in the middle. The dough is chewier than other places, a bit on the mochi spectrum of dough. The coconut filling was not too sweet and just right in amount. The portion of both the dough and the filling is good for a snack, satisfying min jiang kueh cravings without loading up on the calories.

Queues at Tai Cheong have been long since circuit breaker ended! I love the egg tarts with their buttery, fragrant crusts and silky smooth, soft egg custard fillings.

I usually eat the egg tarts right after buying them when they're warm. This was my first time buying a box to eat over a few days. I would suggest not eating them at room temperature – they're still nice, but the crust gets a slightly soggy feel. Instead, toast the egg tart for about 2-3 min. The crust firms up and the whole egg tart regains its beautiful fragrance.

I've heard of these famous tar sar piahs and finally got a chance to try them. It's an old school coffee shop, with the tau sar piahs baked freshly in ovens at the back. You have a choice between sweet and salty, and I bought 6 salty ones. They came piping hot in a box, with an irresistible aroma. They're flaky, buttery, fragrant and oh-so-delicious. No more going to Malaysia to buy tau sar piah. I dare say this is the best tau sar piah I have ever eaten. They were still good 3 days after I bought them!

An old favourite, this is a flamboyant version of the chocolate pancake, with the same warm chocolatey oozey interior, but with crunchy bits for a delightful nutty crunch in every bite.

This piping hot waffle is ultimate comfort food. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, I like it so much that I always get it plain, but you can have with a variety of fillings too.

I like having this for breakfast. The creamy egg mayo and mildly sweet pancake dough go well together.

Chocolate always wins my heart. I like starting from the tail, enjoying the chewiness and mild sweetness of the plain dough, and munching towards the body, where the fillings are.

Smooth, soft, eggy custard in a buttery crust. The apple was mildly sweet and gave a comforting warm touch.
