Rendang came with sauce but patty was slightly too charred that made it a little bitter. The Assam fish was battered in spicy sour sauce. Accompanying rice was however not as flavourful with Buah Keluak as I hoped for. But overall the variety still makes this place a vegan haven.
Portions are big, so it’s for sharing. Flavours were deep and tasty with umami for the Buah Keluak dish (Chicken). Curry vegetables had egg plants, lady fingers, carrots and cabbage. Would prefer to have potatoes and more spice. When you order the rice at additional $2.80, comes with free flow rice, achar and sambal chili! Also their durian chendol ($7) was fragrant. Would recommend to people who likes to try peranakan food.
Freshly prepared and staff was attentive. Cool decor indoors with outdoor seating as well. However food could have more flavours, a little bland for the rice and croquettes maybe could come with more sauce.
Decent brunch along Robertson Quay.
Slight queue on a weekend morning with both indoor and outdoor seatings. Food is not bad.
We were drawn to the nice decor of turquoise colour and interesting wooden carved stools. Service was great, allowing me to customize to make it a meat free option! We also had a great deal to add a set of side dish and drink at additional $3.90 in addition to the Burrple Beyond deal! Both the tomato soup and pickle soup with seabass slices tasted great!
Nice vibes for a chill out after work on a weekday, the China square area is relatively quiet. Unfortunately we waited a while for the food to arrive (more than 25 mins and huge gap between dishes) considering there were less than 20 people then and they only ordered bar snacks and drinks. They have a lunch set with similar options from $8.90 onwards with coffee. Aglio Olio, and side mesclun salad was flavorful. Beer battered fish was greasy and lack flavor although the portion was large. We gave our feedback hoping they will improve the recipe soon!
We also order gin and tonic, which was not on the menu ($15) - a tad too sweet for my husband. Service was excellent as the staff constantly comes back to check on us.
Went as three pax and my friends ordered a duck confit and Angus steak medium rare (each was $26 on its own). The duck confit was good, but the steak was a little tough to chew. My portobello burger was juicy (and they almost charged me the healthier lunchtime portobello burger at $21 until I corrected their bill before paying). Service was a little slow for the food that came a long time after each person got their main and almost finish eating before the next one came. It came with 2 bottled craft beer options (think volume was half pint). The dessert creme brûlée ($9) was not impressive so I don’t recommend it. We also ordered Paulaner Weissbeer ($8 per pint) that is pretty good deal. Overall, some hits and some misses.
The laksa barramundi was flavourful and we finished every drop of the dish. It came with crispy wantons, fish cake slices and laksa noodles at the bottom of the fish. The truffle carbonara was topped with poach egg. Creamy but could do more with deeper truffle flavour and a little more salt. Overall is a great deal. We also ordered a craft beer, brown ale, from a local brewery and it was pricey at $11 for half pint.
Multi sensory experience here! The hot chocolate surprise is really a surprise. The staff were friendly and poured hot milk over a chocolate case encasing colourful marshmallows. The apple whiskey and baileys Irish cream pancakes were yummy and light. Could taste the alcohol more strongly in the whiskey pancake. Good for all day consumption.
Tasty hearty thin crust pizza and tomato based pasta. Excellent service as the staff takes time to guide me through ordering via the table QR code. Doesn’t feel she treat me less because I’m using discount codes. We appreciate the nice ambience and background music too.
Thin crunchy pizza base with tasty toppings. Will be open to come back for the nice chill vibes and good service.
It’s unbelievable that vegan fajitas taste so complex with various sauces and lime accents in the sides and in the wrap. It’s delightful and we finished every bit. The hot house smoked salmon risotto was interesting with heavy smoked flavour my husband liked a lot. Not heavy on the palate. Tasty! Happy to have 1 for 1 on the mains section.
