Saw the table nearby ordering this set meal and it was so tempting!! 🤩 We went for this Saravana SPL Meals. (SPL = Special we guess! 🤔) Just noticed in their menu that that the set is not to be shared. We reckon that we order the Tiffin set earlier and hence we didn’t break this rule.😉
.
This set contains Sweet, Rice, 2 mini poori / 1 chappati, 3 types of vegetables, ‘Vathal Kuzhambu’, ‘Sambar’, ‘Rasam’, Curd, poppadom & pickles.
.
Vathal kuzhambu, Sambar and Rasam (tamarind base) dishes have bold flavour. ☄️ We love it to the max!! 💯 Poppadom is nice (crack & dip it with cold refreshing curd). Chappati is puffy & warm (not chewy). The set is slightly let down by overcooked rice. 🍚
.
💡 Believe it or not! that we will come back to this place because of this set alone. This just shows how much we love the way they cook these South Indian Vegetarian dishes!! We also ordered extra lassi $3.50 to share. 🍹 Recommend to try this place after you are done shopping in mustafa centre. (Not too far, air con, and tasty vegetarian food)
#noMSG #noreusedoil #nopreservatives 💪
The masala chai tea is a perk of ordering mini tiffin vadai set (served when we finish the set). It helps that we remind their staff at that time but if you want to enjoy this along the meal, do tell them). Served very hot, aromatic with just right amount of sweetness). 👌☕️
We love it so much that when we check out Mustafa Centre, we try to recreate the same tea but ain’t taste the same.😅
Tempted to order this mini tiffin set because of ‘Kesiri Bath’(an orange color Indian sweet). How Sweet Tooth we are!! 😛 It turns out ‘Masala Dosai’ served with chutney & sambar is the star!! The seasoned potato is stuffed proportionately beneath the dosai crepe. 🥔
.
We also enjoy 5 mini round ‘idli’ and the doughnut shaped ‘vadai’. It is a good value set as the portion for each component is very generous and well cooked.👌
We walked past this South Indian restaurant before (the first time we decided not to try as we thought we were early (11 ish) and saw no customers inside the restaurant).🤔
This time we look and again see none! 😱 Until we stand there and ponder as it is a hot afternoon today and we are so hungry! Someone leave the door ajar and we see a big family group sitting inside the restaurant. Our confidence soars even more when we notice one man rushing before us to get into the restaurant.😆
.
We found out that the place is not well lit so it looks as if none inside at peak hour lunch time. The pic shows what we order for 2 persons (Total bill $25) No service charge (only GST 7% applied)
.
Note 📝: the place got quite a mixed review in google but don’t be intimidated by that. The staff might seem rush to take your order but they are responding to our request quite fast.🤓
“When there is a will, there is a way”. Been here twice after trekking at Windsor Park but never quite make it as the stall is close by then. This time we arrive to the stall at 6 pm.😃
.
Read so many reviews as the stall is famous for its pratas (some claims that the standard drops) but we so much appreciate hard work of the ‘main man’ 👨 Mr. Mohammed who is kind enough to let us observe how coin prata is made while we really feel the searing heat as we stood nearby the big griddle.
.
From the start to the finish, stretching and folding the dough the “coin prata” $4 (mini fried flatbread) is well worth our spending. They were served with artistic touch (big coins in the middle)👌😁 making it look like 🌸 . The texture of coin prata we think is also spot on. It is crispy outside with soft dough inside. Dipping coin prata with curry dipping sauce and our Friday is completed!!! 👼
After our long hike on a hot day, we desperately need something to cool down and chance upon this yellow toned ice cream shop in upper Thomson. Checking their website reveals it to be a popular choice in the hood. 😍
.
We tried their double scoops (hoji-cha & lemon cheesecake ice creams) with a surprise. You can taste a roasted Japanese green tea aroma for the Hoji-cha scoop. This is paired with not so sour & right amount of sweetness from lemon cheesecake scoop. It is so good that it deserves a hidden gem category instead of our usual sweet treat album. 👍😁
.
P.S. Only accept cash or coins if your total purchase is less than $10. We gotta order long black $3.50 to stay above $10; however, we are impressed that our long black is full bodied & served with a crunchy biscuit! 😍
Looking for Udon or ramen in VivoCity that cost less than $10 with a decent quality? This place is for you! 👌 After joining Pokémon safari event at Sentosa, we settle for this hidden gem inside VivoCity Food Court. ☺️
We tried their Udon and so surprised to find the flavour match up to those famous ones. With this price, portion is generous with 2 thick slices of pork bellies (Those who enjoy pork belly will cherish this bowl). We normally are not crazy about pork belly but still couldn’t resist it!. Glad to find a cheap #hiddengem Japanese food in this area! 👍
If you are looking for okra that cooks superbly (crunchy, not soggy and lovely green), the first stall (Nasi Padang) is the one! It might looks swampy but trust us it is so flavourful & satisfying meal!
Don’t know where to start. Everything is just on point! Delicious hor fun (one of our fav places for this dish now) served stylishly in the wok shaped bowl. Can’t ask for more! The crispy shallot, Calamansi and the chilli garnish dress up this dish but it’s just great on its own.🤤
