It was the most expensive fast food meal I’ve ever had. But I figured I should try as many as I can as the next time I get it will probably be months later when the hype goes down. I was quite happy I only took 1 hour to get my food!

I was quite surprised that I preferred the Smoke Shack ($10.90) to Shack Stack ($14.30) as I’m not the biggest fan of bacon. But the smokiness really brought the burger to the next level and as a hardcore chilli lover, I enjoyed the kick from chopped red pepper! Albeit a little dry compared to Shack Stack burger.

I would give the cheese fries a pass ($5.90), as it was a little stale by the time we got it and there’s nothing special about it.

I also got the Chocolate and Common Man Coffee milkshakes ($6.90 each, add $0.80 to make it malted). It was extremely thick and too sweet for my liking (could be due to the additional malt). Highly recommend to share with someone as it gets quite sickening!

Lastly for dessert, I got the Shack Attack in single ($7.50). It’s basically gelatinous chocolate ice cream with brownies and hot fudge sauce, sounds like a dream for chocolate lovers! Personally, it was the most disappointing item among all that I’ve tried. There’s not much chocolate taste, just sugar. I could also detect a hint of Gula Melaka, not sure if it’s intentional. But I’m pretty bumped this is not up to expectation as I enjoy chocolate desserts!

Overall, I’ll give the experience a 6/10. Maybe I’ll come back just for Smoke Shack, but not for the rest of the items I’ve tried! 😬

Not sure if it’s because I don’t enjoy BS with milk, but these two ingredients just go well together (for me).

But I’m a sucker for trending food so here I am, trying out another BS+Milk item. Apparently, this store is pretty popular in Taiwan. The queue was still long at 9pm, I took about 20 mins to collect my order. I got the signature BS with Milk and pearls in large ($6.50).

Had the same reaction as the first time I tried Tiger Sugar, so I can conclude that I just don’t like the item in general hence. But I’d say that the pearls are softer than most I’ve tried and quite tasty!

Gone were the days I don’t have to queue for the fried rice, now I have to wait for at least 30 mins before I satisfy my hunger.

Ordered the Pork Chop Fried Rice ($6) - Love the fluffy, Japanese-y rice (albeit quite oily)! Pork chop is the perfect dupe for you-know-what, just slightly thinner. Overall, dish is great for the price but will be even better if it’s more flavourful and less oily. Shall wait for the hype to go down so the waiting time will shorten 🙃

This place was recommended by a friend who said that it’s the “best” in Singapore and is owned by Vietnamese. I knew I had to try it.

The area is quite small and not a place for after-meal chats. You might have to sit at separate tables if the group is too big.

I ordered the Sliced Beef Noodle Soup ($8.90) and Hanoi Meat Balls ($3.90) to share. The portion of the Pho was huge! The taste was above average, compared to the ones I’ve had in Singapore. But I would prefer my soup to be slightly more savoury and noodles to be less soggy.

But their homemade pork balls were amazing! The sweetness reminded me of Taiwan sausage.
For the price and quality of food, I know that I’ll be back for more!

With a 1-1 deal in hand, me & my friend decided to try this gourmet burger joint from LA (heard that it’s favoured by many Hollywood stars!) with sky high expectations for an ATAS experience.

I got the Number Two burger ($14++) which consists of beef patty, roasted tomatoes, burrata, crispy prosciutto and pesto. It’s also dubbed as the Italian burger due to the ingredients used.

Not sure what happened, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The buns were stale, while the beef was bland and dry. The ingredients didn’t go well together.

Maybe I’ll give it a second chance if I love burgers enough, but I don’t.

My stomach is a bottomless pit, so I knew I had to try the Tsukemen when I read “Free Noodle Upsize”.

I got the Cha Shu Tsukemen with Nutty Miso ($14.90) initially and that became my standard order ever since. The broth I picked has a robust flavour, slightly sweet and packed with fragrance of nuts. It reminds me of the amazing Dried Sardine Tsukemen I had at Sanpoutei previously! I prefer the thick ramen as it’s more chewy and substantial. But I’m ashamed to say that 2x is the best I can do 🙃

Decided to try this unassuming Zi Char stall for lunch and amazed by how good the food was. I ordered the Seafood White Beehoon ($6) which was recommended by the staff (but it’s not on the menu).

Firstly, I must say that the portion is very huge and can be shared among 2 person. It’s quite value for money. Secondly, it was one of the best white beehoon I’ve had. One of the reason why it’s so fragrant is due to the pork lard and flavourful broth. The lala and prawns were fresh too. The wok hei aroma is in every bite I take 😍👍🏻

There are many hidden gems in Alexandra. This was a great find and I highly recommended for Westies to check this place out. Can’t wait to uncover more yummy food!

But I must say that the quality of ingredients is pretty subpar. The meat was bland and rather dry, I wouldn’t be able to complete the meal without chilli sauce. Drinks were overly sweetened. I was quite disappointed because it was very far off from my last experience a few months back?

Don’t think I’ll be having this anytime soon, but I hope that it will be better the next time I’m back!

I personally prefer thick and chewy noodles, so I was pretty excited when this popular chain restaurant opened near my place.

I got the regular Beef Curry Udon ($9.90) as I was craving for something hearty in the colder-than-usual weather. I like the texture of the Sanuki udon which was freshly made in store, but the curry sauce was quite diluted. Overall, I wasn’t impressed by the dish.

The prawn broth is very important, it is the essence of the dish. Wok Hei would be a bonus. The noodles should be fried beforehand, hence it will taste savoury on it’s own.

This Hokkien Mee ($4) is the best I’ve tried up to date. Although the seafood & pork are not generous, all I could focus on was the robust taste of the noodles. The copious amount of lard really enhanced the flavour & texture. But the chilli is pretty average and doesn’t add points to the dish.

Hokkien Mee is everywhere, but it’s hard to find one that suits your palate. This hits the jackpot for me! But I’ll still be on the lookout for a even better Hokkien Mee because the pursuit for better food never ends 😌

The cuppa is full-bodied and slightly acidic, just the way I like. The coffee fragrance is quite strong too! This hidden gem that caffeine lovers might have missed out also serves sparkling tea and craft beers, which I’ll surely be trying the next time ☕️🍵🍻

I have tried many kinds of Japanese noodles but it was the first time I heard of Maze-Soba. It is basically Japanese dry ramen, which requires you to mix everything up before enjoying it. I got the Spicy Maze-Soba in Large ($13.80), and my friend got the Tokyo Maze-Soba in Large ($12.80).

If you can’t take spicy food, I recommend you stick to the original Tokyo soba. It was spicier than I thought, my stomach was slightly uncomfortable after the meal. The taste reminded me of KL Pan Mee! I tried the Tokyo Soba and would say that it’s better than the spicy version. It is more creamy and fragrant, the flavour similar to kolo mee with extra lard.

At the end of the meal, don’t forget to request for a spoonful of Oimeishi (Japanese rice) to mix with the remaining sauce. This is definitely the best way to end the meal!
