Fried chicken

Got our fried chicken fix at Shuang Bao Thai Hatyai Fried Chicken, a stall in a coffeeshop near Bedok Mall. Despite not hearing about it on social media, there was a long queue and a 40min wait even though we went near 6pm. Some things such as chicken skin and lu rou fan were sold out when we ordered and all the chicken were sold out when we collected our food. The fried chicken comes in various sets, we got ours with rice and mango salad. It was very crispy and tasty, just like what I had in Thailand but a bit more salty than usual. We also tried the fried pork belly rice which was pretty nice too but the chicken is clearly their signature. Will go back again earlier so I can try the other things in the future! 😋

This was crispy outside and rather tender inside. However the batter was a bit too sweet for my liking.

The chicken was juicy and the skin was crispy. The batter was a bit hard for me though. My mouth was tired after eating this 😂 the flavour was slightly sweet which I wasn’t used to but it‘s a unique flavour. I would eat this again but I probably won’t wait 30mins 😅

The mum’s thigh meal is on promo at $6.90 until 31 Oct. It was good but sadly it wasn’t great though. It tastes similar to KFC’s zinger just that the burger had more ingredients in this. I didn’t like the cheese in the cheese fries though, they had an odd taste that clashed with the fries.

Shared the cheese platter which has mandu, popcorn chicken and wings and this reminds me of kfry in JB! Just that the dish cooled down quite quickly haha. I thought it was pretty yummy and I liked how there was sesame sauce on the mandu too 😋 the cheese was stretchy so it was chewy and tasty from all the chicken sauce!

The 鹽酥雞 just tasted like crispy chicken, the salt flavour wasn’t very distinct and lacked flavour.

This is my favourite dish here, the honey tequila wings. They’re crispy and both sweet and spicy in flavour too!

This was our only non-fried chicken dish. The chicken was slightly spicy and the cheese was thick and flavourful. I was so glad we got this to balance out all the fried chicken we had! Mains here are 1 for 1 with burpple beyond!

The chicken is coated with honey butter and they were all slightly sweet. Even the wedges and rice cake are also coated with honey butter and they were so fragrant. Mains here are 1 for 1 with burpple beyond!

We had spicy fried chicken and this was a lot bigger than expected, we expected it to be the same size as the honey butter chicken. This was very crispy while slightly sweet and spicy. We enjoyed this too! Mains here are 1 for 1 with burpple beyond!
