Hawker Fare 🤩🤩🤩
Apparently, this is one of the most talk about satay in town. Hainease style satay that was grilled over low fire for a longer time. Dipping sauce did not taste like the usual peanut sauce and it was given to us cold. Definitely a turn-off for me. Missy here prefer those good-old satay grilled over blazing fire with super “gao” peanuty sauce.
Priced at $2.50 per roll for their char siew and prawn flavour, this stall has one of the silk-est and soft CCF i ever eaten other than the one at Pek Kio FC. Highly recommended 👍🏼
Finally brace at queue at this famous stall at Whampoa Market during lunch hour. Not a fan of their sauce, is a tad too sticky and i don’t really like the taste. However, the duck meat is really good. Soft and tender without any usual blood/iron taste.
Famous Yong Dau Foo at Albert Hawker Centre that is always packed with people queuing. Standard ingredient and every bowl comes with bee hoon in it. 6 ingredients for the small ones and 7 for the big ones. What is unique here is their paste, soft and chewy! Other than that, the rest of the ingredient and soup is quite normal tho.
Not jian bo tiong bahru because we missed it as it is located at the corner of the hawker centre. The chye poh was a tad too oily and salty to my liking. Prefer the kueh to be softer than this.
Bought $4 worth of carrot cake to share among the family. Thick slices of fried carrot cake that are soft and comes with thick egg batter. Nothing wow and i would say is a plate of average fried carrot cake.
The soup is so light and sweet even without the condensed milk! I am not kidding! Not too sure how they have done it but is soooo amazing! The sliced fish is really fresh, which is a bonus to the super light and sweet soup. Second bonus point goes to the deep fried egg crumbs that is complimentary.
The wait time: 30mins! (From ordering to food collection)
Would not miss out on the black version after trying their white one. Less sweet than most of the stall out there in the market, but definitely lacking in flavour as compared to their white ones.
As featured on Food King as one of the most affordable carrot cake under $2, and indeed, is $2 for this plate with a good portion. More egg than the homemade carrot cake which was super soft and mushy.
It was slightly overly sweet but the rojak sauce is still the same old taste as before. However, the fried doughstick was quite soggy and soft. I am sure it is not because it was soak in the sauce for a long time.
Tried another stall from the satay street at Lau Pa Sat. Different from the usual satay, this stall actually marinated the satay meat with some spices before put onto the grill. Is another kind of flavour that different from the usual ones that we ate normally. Meat was grilled to tenderlicious and the coated spices makes it possible to eat 20 sticks even without the sauce.
The sauce provided by the stall did not match my tastebud tho. It was more peppery and spicy rather than peanut-y which i prefer.
Value set rice with fried egg and mongolian fish. The fish is slightly peppery spicy and portion was decent. Egg was slightly overfried but is still a good lunch meal 👍🏼
