This was an unexpectedly heavy burrito, but I'm glad that the quantity was paired with quality. I was especially surprised by the rice- my usual gripe about it is that it tends to be quite flavourless but my concern was for naught here. The rice was pleasantly firm to the bite and was nicely flavoured on its own. Although I'm usually fonder of the tortilla wrap in the burrito, this is one rare instance that I think I might just be as satisfied with a burrito bowl (which comes with only rice). The combination of all the ingredients was very tasty and I actually didn't need the hot sauce at all!
This burrito wasn't quite the same as the ones I've had in US, and I'm not even mad about it. This was I felt a somewhat lighter version because it didn't send me to a usual food coma from the typical greasy, hearty Mexican fare. But don't get me wrong, this was by no means any less satisfying. I hope to return for their quesadillas soon!
What better way to spend Cinco de Mayo with some Mex grub?
All of the elements of this Fajita were decent enough - good guac and really good sour cream, soft rice and fresh salsa. But what was really disappointing was the steak; it was tough and frankly quite tasteless. Which was really sad because I really like my meat :'( still, the tortilla that came with it was surprisingly one of the best I've had! So though protein was lacklustre, carbs was 10/10.
I absolutely loved the idea of this dish -- the dessert version of nachos.
Triangular torilla pieces were fried to crisp perfection, yet remaining ever so light because they were so thin. They reminded me of really, really crispy churros! The cold ice cream was definitely a nice contrast with the hot, freshly fried triangles.
I'm usually not a fan of soggy anything but really, the best part is getting a tortilla piece that was soaked with melted ice cream, drenched in chocolate sauce.
Ahhh, what a way to end a fantastic meal.
...And they managed to produce a winning taco again.
Golden batter encasing really moist & fresh fish that remained crispy even as I ate this after the Short Ribs Taco. I'm sure they really put thought into the flavours because they used a different slaw combination for the different protein. The tomatoes certainly added freshness and complemented the deep fried fish.
So this must be the KoMex fusion of the Carne Asada. Unlike the oilier versions I've had in Mexican taquerias, this was "lighter", but by no means less flavourful.
I am one who usually puts hot sauce on everything, but this I enjoyed completely unadulterated. Perfectly grilled beef that had a subtle natural sweetness, with crunchy slaw and onions. It was clear that they used quality ingredients, and the meat really shone in this one.
