Then came the star of the meal, the famous XXL pizza that they are renowned for. The pizza had elasticity in the middle and slightly charred bubbles on the edges, promising a satisfying crunch to the crust. Dressed in Salmon & Kale with Umami Sauce on 1 side, the kale may look somewhat wilted in the heat but it was crisp and buried under a snowfall of salmon chunks and dressing. The Burrata & Prosciutto is a fail safe option and needless to say, was pretty bomb.
New kid on the block - Santis is the latest venture by the Sarnies Group , where they are an alfresco restaurant highlighting the best of produce through open flame cooking.
Got to try one of their signature slow-fermented sourdough pizza, Green Pig. The texture of the pizza was what caught my attention first when I took my first bite, rather than its flavors. The chewy sourdough with its crisp, burnt crust was done well, and had a slight tang to it. The sliced roasted Coppa laid on the avocado crema with generous shavings of Pecorina dusted all over it. Apart from that, there were almonds and basil thrown in the mix to balance out the flavors, with the almond providing some crunch to cut on the monotony.
Being the carnivore that he is, my dining partner enjoyed the Mixed Meat Pizza more, where there’s salami, bacon and meatballs decorating the tomato based pizza. Due to the meat galore, this was more flavourful than the Burrata but I feel it gets a little heavy after a while.
Have long been seeing Lino’s pizza making the rounds on my social media. Decided to put it to the test and paid them a visit using my Burpple Beyond deal and I must say, the Burrata Pizza deserved all the hype that it was getting!
The pizza crust was how I like them to be: thin. No one has time to get full on carbs so thin crust is the best way to go, also, you get the most bang for your buck 😉 the pizza arrived with a ball of burrata placed atop a bed of marinated cherry tomatoes and tomato passata, where you got to break into it and spread that cold burrata over the warm pizza such that the cheese slowly melts and spread like the Red Sea. Despite the huge ball of burrata being spread out, you’d find it really light on the palate, and you wouldn’t feel jelak at all. The creaminess from the cheese serves as a good counterpoint to the tarty tomato base, making this a well loved pizza among customers, seeing as to how almost every table had this.
Upon seeing our choice paralysis at their very extensive menu, the helpful waiter recommended her personal favourite for us to try, the Butter Garlic Prawn Pizza. The garlic scent hits you in the face when the dish was served, waking up my appetite. Drenched in mozzarella and cheddar cheese, this pizza guarantees an instagrammable cheese pull with every slice. I particularly love how flavourful this was, with the thin, crispy crust and crunchy prawns adding on texture to the dish. Make this a must order when you dine here!
One of the crowd favourites at the the table that night, the Nagoya Furai is a pizza infused with Japanese elements, with the likes of Fried Breaded Shrimps, Nitsume Sauce and Furikake. An interesting deviation from the usual Italian pizza 🍕
I love me a thin crust pizza with generous ingredients atop! Can’t wait for CB to end before we can all dine out again.
A long pizza with tomato compote base, topped with parmesan cheese and parma ham thoughtfully placed on every portion, no need for snatching! The crisp base was what I like, remarkably thin, and yet still seemingly able to hold its weight against the mountain of ingredients above it. Great for sharing with your companions! Thanks @burpple for the invite and @stage.prinsep for the warm hospitality!
Another must order here is the Quattro Formaggi, which comprises of gorgonzola, parmesan, smoked mozzarella and fontina, quite the cheesy heaven. To quote Bieber, 'Yummy, yummy, yummy ~'
Pizza is a pie chart that updates in real time, showing how much pizza you have left.
consists of 5 cheese blend, tomato and fresh basil. Considering how there were 5 cheese blend, I felt the cheese taste weren't strong enough. Give this a miss and stick with Dr Pepperoni!
It is easy to miss Blue Label Pizza in Madarin Gallery, even though it's situated just beside Wild Honey because they don't have a very flashy signboard nor grand entrance that is indicative of its existence. Their door is small and tiny but once you enter it, you will be greeted by 80s rock music playing in the background, very much like a typical American diner even though it's a pretty upscale pizzeria. Did not have a booking and had to wait close to an hour plus before I finally settled into their booth. Opt for Dr. Pepperoni, which came with red sauce, mozzarella, capers, chilli oil and well, pepperoni. Sesame seeds were sprinkled around the crust as well, and when you bite into them, it reminds me vaguely of 'hum ji pang'. The crust was crispy and 'airy', without much flour, which is good because less carbs means more space for everything else!
