Cafe Hoppers
Quite a steal with burpple beyond! 1 for 1 - american bfast & ribeye steak. Of course the steak wasnāt the best but with the food coming up to a total of $24 for both with my off peak membership, itās worth a try!
Came for the 1 for 1 promo! Sweet servers & really cosy ambience. Tucked away in Tanglin and it can be quite inaccessible for those not driving. Chashu miso pasta was amazing! Well torched chashu pieces, half cooked hanjuku eggs and linguine cooked al dente. Really enjoyed my meal here. Kudos to the Boufe team!
Cakes go for around $9~ and drinks at $5~. Chilled place - chocolate dessert was really good & so was the iced latte. Matcha cake was more of a miss though. Nice servers :)
Really good for ~$15. Well grilled and nicely toasted.
Amazing place for pizzas and pastas tucked away in Katong V!! My favourite pizza/pasta place now actually. The Beef Ragu ($19+) was the best Iāve had. The tagliatelle and actually all their bases are handmade and you can truly taste the difference. Beef was cooked in red wine and it was the perfect pairing. Really springy and tasty, a must go for pasta & pizza lovers. Their truffle pizza was super good too. Service was also amazing, Iāve nothing to complain about!
Service was impeccable, waffles were alright. Wanted the salted caramel one but it was apparently melt-y and the server recommended a change for me. Ice cream wasnāt that good tbh, wasnāt the creamiest Iāve had, kinda lacked in flavour. Waffles are waffles & Iāve no complaints haha. Cost around $12.50(?)ish, the usual price for ice cream and waffles I guess.
Going at $22, the Full Works definitely did keep me full enough till dinner! The scrambled eggs and mushrooms atop the broiche bread was cooked well, eggs with the right consistency and mushrooms with the right flavour. Pommes de Noisettes (really just potato balls lol) were fried well too! Really nice ambience in the middle of the beautiful National Museum. Served ice cream sandwiches too which was a great end to my brunch!
When I saw this item on the menu I knew I just had to get it because I love foie gras in any form! The French Affection - Ribeye was a 280g Black Angus Ribeye served with sautƩed Spinach and crispy Sweet Potato Chips which hit everything well. It comes at a price tag of $32 and Foie Gras was an additional $6, bringing the dish to $38++ The ribeye was cooked well to a medium rare as requested and the foie gras was a tad small but yummy anyway. Nice place for a relaxing brunch on a Sunday morning, was really quiet and nice and the service was impeccable too!
A highly raved about cafe with higher than normal prices. Boufe definitely has its charm sitting in the middle of the Tanglin area with exclusivity whereby itās pretty inaccessible without personal transport. But it still draws a steady flow of customers with waiting lists on weekend brunch days. I felt that it was a tad overprices but nonetheless, a check off my cafe bucketlist. This brunch item was made with a base of hashbrowns, steak pieces and cradled with fried to perfection onion rings! Brunch food!
Truffle fries were good; fries were handcut and there was a decent truffle aroma on each fry. Their famous mac&cheese was also pretty yummy though it was a little overbearing so do share it! The calamari was a huge miss, tasted like refrigerated food. In all, Little Diner serves up decent cafe food and normal cafe prices. Was quit when I went on a weekday afternoon and the place was quite nice for a chill afternoon.
Really popular amongst students due to it being in the vicinity of a number of institutions. Got 2 regular flavours for $6 with a waffle bowl at 90 cents! The Horlicks and Salted Butterscotch was a good choice but it did get a little gelat at the end! Either way, portions were good for the size paid & the ice cream was really yummy too!
I honestly wasn't expecting much when I ordered this southern fried chicken at Slappy Cakes, a restaurant famous for pancakes but WOW for $17.50++ it was really pleasantly surprised! The wait for this took pretty long but I think it was well worth it. They prepared it 100% from scratch and the end product is perfect. The potatoes were cubed and fried to a golden brown, the scrambled eggs were so eggy & fluffy and milk & the chicken was fried to a crispy exterior and yet the meat inside was very tender. It was simply a 100% pleasant surprise & the crab meat(?) sauce just went so well with everything! I'd definitely go all the way back to RWS for this, and not forgetting the fun pancake making where you get a bottle of batter (8.50++) and you're free to make whatever kind of pancakes you want!
