Just the other day, I was in my neighborhood Starbucks, due to the fact that there was no other decent coffee alternatives. I was trying to enjoy a chocolatey cafe mocha when it occurred to me that to drink a mocha is to gulp down the entire history of the New World. .

From the Spanish exportation of Aztec cacao, and the Dutch invention of the chemical process for making cocoa, on down to the capitalist empire of Hershey, PA, Cadbury and the lifestyle marketing of Seattle's Starbucks, the modern mocha is a bittersweet concoction of imperialism, genocide, invention, and consumerism served with whipped cream on top. Yikes.

This Cuppa however was made by my buddy @koalamii which was a lifetime ahead compared to the evil corporation that is Starbucks which sadly is slowly taking over the world. At least get our names right, for God’s sake.

Many pictures and positive reviews have been circulating around regarding this dish at Firebake thus it’ll be a wasted trip not to try it out, especially with the new @burpple Burpple’s Beyond 1 for 1 Deals. Basically you’d have another Main dish for free and pays for the one with a higher price tag. .

Cooked al dente, each angel hair pasta was covered in the generous amount of prawn oil and Sakura Ebi. This is better than many pasta places out there, but I’d appreciate it even more if there’s an option to make it spicy, then it’ll be complete.

ACAMASEATS & GTK💮: Probably the most standard sticky date pudding around, reliable but not comparable. Especially to the likes of the ones at Artichoke @artichoke_sg and The Lokal @thelokalsingapore . Smooth and not so sweet vanilla bean ice cream, the sticky date pudding wasn’t dry and pretty tasty.

Gosh, one come to a point that’s challenging to describe about food. There’s only this amount of vocabulary, the Pudding was fragrant and moist, moist?! Cut to the chase, it was decently satisfying.

The pickled mushrooms was a little turn off as it has a lingering tastes that’s a tad too sweet. Standard hummus, go to either Artichoke or Pita Bakery for the best hummus. .

The almond dukkha isn’t pronounced enough, although the portobello mushroom brings the umami earthiness. However, the toasted grain toast was soggy due to it being placed under the humongous portobello. If you ain’t a vegan, order something else.

Thought the plating is beautiful and yes we do eat with our eyes first which makes one anticipate even more. However the donut is a little tough and dry, got excited about the crushed Tim Tam’s but can’t taste anything maybe it’s crushed that’s why but what’s the point, the ice cream, normal. The service is good though.

The different textures play well together with the right level of richness. It leaves you wanting for more instead of just being a one biter. All of the Mezze dish are truly outstanding, especially the babaganoush with the different textures and flavours complimenting each other so bloody well. .

The rich and creamy spinach was balanced beautifully with the sweet yet tangy plum. They also serve one of the most badass hummus in town. Order a side of Turkish Bread (💵S$4.50) to dip in all their Mezze which I encourage you to get and firstly cos every each of them is dope, secondly the shared plates might take awhile to arrive.

ACAMASEATS & GTK💮: Those who know me, even a little bit, will be familiar with my unholy attraction, addiction & affection to the meat mutant that is the hotdog. Especially when it’s home and hand made with natural casings, served with caramelised sautéed onions. 🤤

A good hotdog bun doesn’t need the extra sauce on the side, however the mustard and tomato relish levitates the umami level with every bite. This little hidden gem is part deli, part cafe, part butchery and party grocer. If there’s a place I’d totally go bonkers and fall in love for, this will be it. 🔖

I love them with a passion, an unhealthy one. It’s an unforgivable, unforgettable even sin when it’s not executed well, which is the case for this particular one. 🔖

Not being crispy enough is a cardinal sin by itself, the buttermilk has little to no flavour, coupled with a few sad pieces of wine poached pear, the crunchy walnut and decent vanilla bean ice cream is the only redeeming factor. But truth be told, where can I get ice cream with waffles at 12 am?

My palate certainly aren’t that sensitive to detect those flavours and I honestly don’t really care, I just need a good Cuppa for my soul and the all important caffeine. 🔖

Minimum seasoning was added to the entire dish hence the table side salt and pepper, which allows you to chose either the “your body is a temple” healthy route or “Life is short, Live Fast Die Young” moto. 🔖

Known for their truffle fries, I find it rather normal compared to others, nothing much to shout about or rave its just a good bowl of fried shoestring fries with truffle oil. 🔖
