Date Night
A lovely Italian place hidden in Siglap that is always packed with patrons, really loved the cozy and friendly vibe. Opted for the homemade semolina pasta ($28) - didn’t fancy the texture but the truffle mushroom paste with their homemade sausage was well reduced to a thick, creamy paste packed with flavours 👌🏻
Potato bed fried in beef fat, topped w fresh tartare and caviar ($20++) oh you are such a tease, Burnt Ends you lit ❤️❤️
Second time back at LUKA and still loving this place! This contemporary Italian dining place has a chill vibe and serves affordable, quality food. Their Sotong ($16) is grilled just done served in umami squid ink and hot tomato sauce (which kinda tasted like sriracha). I was mopping the plate clean w the pieces of bread/salad. Don’t forget to order their pizza too! Fire up that sinful pie in firewood brick oven 🔥🔥
Got the Iberico Pork ($68++ 3 courses) and this was prolly the only highlight — tender, medium done slices topped w its own jus, served w creamy polenta. Service was average and food was a bit unexciting overall, but a picturesque place!
After a long hiatus, former Ember Chef is back in action w casual dining at CBD! The restaurant adopted a tapas concept for their menu and I thought the dishes were a lil unoriginal - duck confit, hand cut pasta w ragout, angel hair w ebi, etc. Despite that, we were really pleased w our dinner that night! Every single dish was done well. Loved the Foie Gras Mousse ($12) rich, buttery, creamy (!!) and delicate hint of liver flavour. I would eat it as an ice cream 😋
C&C ($14.90) came in a generous portion good for sharing; lightly seasoned angel pasta doused w crab meat in lobster based sauce and topped w caviar. Great hit for my umami cravings.
Burrata ($14) was fresh, soft, right mix of cream and mozzarella. Daikon and basil oil balanced the overall creaminess. Absolutely loved this 💯 great as a starter or snacking in between dishes!
Tad disappointed w dinner; stracci with prawns and scallops in saffron sauce ($24) failed to deliver: overcooked pasta, watered down sauce and distinct taste of frozen seafood. Even w its affordable prices, mediocre food w overrated hype gets old real quick.
Extremely tender and juicy grilled ribeye tasted so good it could do without the vigneron butter. The fat cap was the best part; charred, beefy, melt in mouth goodness. Affordably priced ($39.80) tho free-flow fries didn't add much appeal. Still, 10/10 would be back for the steak!
Subtle sweet, fresh, creamy and sea-salty, this plate of Uni ($40) redefined "fresh from the ocean"
Fully booked on a Thursday afternoon, Tatsuya is known for their aburi sushi prepared meticulously with the freshest ingredients. Aburi ebi topped w creamy uni, caviar and togarashi w a small slab of warm sushi rice ($20 per sushi) would take a long while to forget 🍣
Throwback to the adventure we had at S&H trying out the tasty Beef Tongue ($16) slices w pickled onions, fragrant fried shallots and wasabi mayo; soft, chewy and strong beefy flavour 👌🏻
