Set Lunch
How about Italian Food that's going at 1-For-1?
💰
1-For-1 Lunch Promotion @chapter_55
(Valid Weekdays 11.30am to 2.30pm, Excl. PH. For Dine-in and takeaway)
💰
For this on-going promotion, you get to choose from pasta, pizza and meats, each with 4-5 choices offered. Mix and match is allowed and the cheaper item will be free.
💰
Chapter 55 is about 10-15mins walk away from Tiong Bahru MRT station and it serves Italian food which are pretty well done. They have an extensive menu, including pasta, pizza, risottos, meats, desserts, waffles and gelato.
💰
Had the sea bass with pesto (Usual S$26+gst) and Bonito Pizza (Usual S$23+gst). Seabass is salted and comes in a thin but big piece with very crispy skin. Served with veggies without fries, it's a healthier main. Bonito pizza is thin crust and topped with bonito. It's pretty enjoyable though together with the seabass, it was too big for us 2 ladies to finish. But that's probably a good thing for big eaters?

There are 8 choices ($10 for pork chop, chicken cutlet, BBQ Chicken, Fish and Chips or $13 for pastas) in their set lunch menu and each set comes with a soup, mini salad and dessert. And for today and tmr, you will also get an extra iced lemon tea thrown in!
🍽
I visited yesterday and tried the Prawn Aglio Olio $13 which came with 3 big prawns. Pasta was all dente and not oily. But it wasn't spicy so spicy lovers might want to request for chilli padi to be added. Despite the lack of "hotness", the taste isn't compromised and managed to be flavorful without being salty. And don't be fooled into thinking that this is a miserly portion. The plate is sunken at the center. So while this looks like a small portion, it isn't.
🍽
Overall, it was a yummy and value for money meal. Service was also top notch. We left with happy bellies and happy smiles with promises to be back.

Taste-wise, it was right on point too.
🍲
Filled with thick strips of fresh pork belly (instead of the shabu shabu type), cucumbers, onions and tofu, the tasty soup had a good consistency (not too watery nor too thick) and had the right balance of spicy and salty. And being someone who's not a fan of sourish soups, I appreciate that kimchi was not added to complicate this concoction.
🍲
But while I like the taste of the soup, which tasted markedly different from the Korean instant noodle's soup stock, I did wish that the pork belly were a little less fatty so that I can indulge with less concern.
🍲
I also had their tteokbokki (SGD 6+) and Korean Seafood Pancake (SGD 7+), both of which just as delightful. Service was also attentive and welcoming. And they also had my favourite #freewifisg . If you work around Raffles Place, give this authentic Korean restaurant a try.

Navigating through basement 2 of Takashimaya, one will find a cluster of Japanese eateries, collectively known as Gourmet Dining. And amongst these is Nakajima Suisan, which specializes in grilled fish sets.
🐟
The Saba fish was fresh and sufficiently juicy but (in case you are wondering) a far cry from Ginza Kuroson's version. So unless you are a huge fan Saba, the fish you should be ordering here is the seasoned Akauo.
🐟
This is the first time I'm having Akauo fish but it's love at first taste. Akauo has a lovely firm texture and a sweet and delicious flavor, most likely due to it being marinated with sake kasu (lees leftover from making sake).

Likes: - The thin, crispy and non-soggy pizza crust.
- Fresh rocket veggies.
- The 1/2 sized portion! For once, I don't have to feel stuffed after eating pizza!
- The awesome buffalo drumlets! Slightly Spicy and addictive!
🍕
Dislikes:
- The salty pork bacon topping.
🍕
Despite not liking the salty bacon, I will probably give the other flavors another chance since I liked it's crispy crust, especially when I saw that they allow you to have half and half pizza! That is to combine 2 flavors in one pizza, each taking half a pizza.

In case you are wondering what they serve as the starting platter (assaggio, antipasto, cheese of the day, handmade bread) for their set lunch. The items in the starter platter may differ day to day. Quantity is small but quality is good. I particularly enjoyed their crispy and flavorful bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar!
Tender and subtly flavored, this makes a feel good lunch choice that's satisfying yet not sinful. Served with a starter platter of petite antipasto, assaggio, toasted bread and cheese for SGD 16.90++.
🍗
And if this doesn't catch your fancy, not to worry, @equilibrium.sg has 25 other main courses (meat/pasta/risotto/pizza) for you to choose from, with prices starting from SGD 13.90++. Makes quite a good place for weekday set lunch.

Hidden inconspicuously at a corner on the level 3 of Takashimaya (near the more visible Patties and Wiches cafe) is Ginza Kuroson, where you will find fresh Japanese food at affordable prices.
🐟
A big part of the restaurant is dominated by an open kitchen behind a long sushi counter where fresh fishes and seafood are on display. And within the kitchen, you will spy charcoal grills where the robatayaki items are cooked. So that should probably give you a hint of what you should order here..
🐟
Since I am not a big fan of sashimi, I ordered the fire-wood grilled Kyushu Mackerel marinated in Mirin and it turned out to be the best Saba I've tasted. Deliciously sweet and juicy, it also had an awesome smokey flavor that you can only get from a charcoal grill. In fact, after trying this, I will probably not go back to the food court's Korean Saba anymore.
🐟
Tip: Call ahead to reserve one of their counter seats and watch the Chef work their magic on your orders right in front of you!

Ryu's is a Japanese Fine Dining Restaurant that pride themselves for their Omakase (starting from SGD 88++ per pax).
🍰
And now, with only SGD 15++, we could get a sneak peak of their quality food via their DAILY set lunch of udon and tempura + appetizer and dessert.
🍰
For meat lovers, I heard that they also serve a very nice Iberico pork set (SGD 25++)!
🍰
Come try them and judge for yourselves if they are as good as I say! Caution though, this place is not suitable if you like strong tastes.
🍰
🍤
A light batter coats the fresh veggies and a single prawn, resulting in a plate of crispy tempura that you will not get sick of.
🍲
The accompanying bowl of udon is nicely chewy and served with mushrooms in a tasty soup. And here, tasty is not achieved by being salty.
🍤
This makes a very nice lunch though meat lovers have be aware that it is mostly a vegetarian meal with the exception of a single tempura prawn.
🍤
🍴
I didn't expect to like it! But I do! And I wished there is more!
🍴
This is the appetizer for my SGD 15++ lunch set. Available daily at Ryu's Japanese Restaurant.
🍴
SGD 15++ comes with salad/soup/ice cream.
This arrived looking good but was unfortunately a subpar dish for me.
The Good: Rendang Sauce, Crispy Papadam
But the chicken was too mushy for my liking.
If you are here for the set lunch, go for other mains.. I heard that the salmon baked rice was the more popular choice.. #freewifiSG via #freewifi @jurongpoint
