Hidden inconspicuously at a corner on the level 3 of Takashimaya (near the more visible Patties and Wiches cafe) is Ginza Kuroson, where you will find fresh Japanese food at affordable prices.

A big part of the restaurant is dominated by an open kitchen behind a long sushi counter where fresh fishes and seafood are on display. And within the kitchen, you will spy charcoal grills where the robatayaki items are cooked. So that should probably give you a hint of what you should order here..

Since I am not a big fan of sashimi, I ordered the fire-wood grilled Kyushu Mackerel marinated in Mirin and it turned out to be the best Saba I've tasted. Deliciously sweet and juicy, it also had an awesome smokey flavor that you can only get from a charcoal grill. In fact, after trying this, I will probably not go back to the food court's Korean Saba anymore.

Tip: Call ahead to reserve one of their counter seats and watch the Chef work their magic on your orders right in front of you!
