For a chillout weekend brunch with friends, snag a table at this Jalan Besar hotspot. While they're known for their delicious rice bowls, their brunch plates are equally impressive and full on flavour, the coffee's great, and the vibes are breezy and laidback. Take Burppler Dex Neo's heed and start with the moreish Cauliflower Fritters ($10), but you've been warned ā the guys here spare no mercy in their stinging wasabi mayo sauce! Move on to the Double Confirm Shiok Burger ($20) that sandwiches golden brown chicken between pillowy buns (eat this quick before the bread turns soggy), or to the Chicken-Not-So-Little Waffle ($24), which Burppler Tastemaker Nobelle Liew declares to be one of the best chicken and waffles she's had in Singapore. The combination of savoury homemade parmesan waffles, smokey paprika fried chicken and charred generous red pepper and tomato sauce is well worth the minimum 15 minutes waiting time. Sit back, eat up and sip on a Flat White ($5) as you soak in the #weekendvibes in this high-ceilinged, light-filled space.

This beautiful cafe along Neil Road (enter via the sidedoor at the alley) holds just as much Insta-potential as its popular sister cafe, Pacamara Boutique Coffee Roasters at Upper Thomson, and the food here is just as good. There are limited indoor seats, so dress cool to sit outdoors where draping plants line the wall, and order a five-ounce Flat White ($5, opt for Dark Matter as your preferred blend of beans ā it's got hints of dark chocolate and macadamia nuts) while you deliberate your main. Portions run big, so it's best to share. The lusciously rich Slow Cooked Beef Cheek ($24) is the most expensive item on the menu and with good reason ā set on a bed of truffle mash, the chunky slab of beef cheek is braised to be so unbelievably tender! The Breakfast Platter ($23) is a meat lover's breakfast dream come true. There's toast, bratwurst sausage, avocado, streaky bacon, mushroom, eggs ā you name it, it's there! Prices are nett, there is no service charge and reservations are not allowed, so head down early.

Plaster blaster ($5), their Eggs Benedict prata served with ham, is worth a try if you're looking for a fresh spin on your usual prata.
Don't forget to order their drink special ($2.80) which combines the greatness of both milo AND coffee in one drink!
What is nasi ambeng? ā you ask. In the words of Tastemaker Shurong Lo, 'think of a typical nasi padang dish but upsized many times over with portions to boot and all on one plate'. That's right. The Nasi Ambeng, a popular Javanese cuisine, takes group dining to another level by putting 7-8 dishes and a heaping mountain of rice on a single sharing tray. Meant to feed four to five people, this is one sharing platter to be enjoyed with sambal-loving family and friends.

For the zi char equivalent of Indonesian food, Rumah Makan Minang is the place to go. Specialising in Indonesian favourites like nasi padang and beef rendang, their affordable, no-frills dishes hit all the right spots. The Ayam Gulai is a must, with tender chicken drenched in their signature curry stew. Tastemaker Julius Lim states, 'I finished the curry chicken gravy without leaving any behind. I am naming it "liquid gold" from today onwards.' The larger the group you go with, the more you can order, with chicken, beef, seafood and vegetarian varieties. Some refreshing lime juice to go with all that savoury, spicy, deliciousness would just leave you completely and utterly satisfied.

Impressed that they kept the same price as 4 years ago yet the number of dishes and quality of food were not compromised. The tahu telur, beef rendang and chicken satay were as good as I remembered. šš Full review is up on my blog - link on profile. #food #foodstagram #foodporn #foodgasm #foodpic #sgfood #sgfoodie #foodie #delicious #yum #yummy #picoftheday #photooftheday #bestoftheday #thericetable #sgig #igsg #igers #igdaily #instasg #instafood #instagood #instalike #instadaily #springtomorrow #buffet #burpple #eat #hungry #instagramsg
Happy Mookata is a great option for night owls since they're open till six in the morning. Located at Golden Mile Tower (not Complex), there are no Thai vibes here whatsoever. But it's probably one of, if not THE cheapest mookata buffet there is, so the lack of atmosphere and good ventilation can be brushed aside. For $23.90/pax, you can get your fill of standard items like chicken, pork, sausages, prawns and vegetables. They don't use charcoal here either, but that shouldn't be a problem if you're not fussy! Happy Mookata will probably be not be at the top of your list, but it surely wonāt let you down when that craving hits in the middle of the night.
